Week 12 Written Assignment:
Listen to the following podcast, an interview with Joel Peterson, Chairman of Jetblue, on leadership.

1. Write a one-paragraph summary of the podcast.
2. In the second paragraph, list several characteristics of leadership and trust discussed in the podcast.
3. In the following paragraph (3rd) indicate how these characteristics, particularly trust, are related to creating a great workplace.
4. In the fourth paragraph, relate a personal experience about trust, or lack thereof, in YOUR workplace. For example, have you ever been mistrusted? Has someone ever betrayed your trust? Have you ever trusted a co-worker who has betrayed you? Has a boss ever entrusted you with a big assignment/task/opportunity, and, if so, how did it feel?

Watch and listen to Peter Drucker’s work on developing skills for personal management will be helpful for this assignment. Below is a short summary of Peter Drucker’s work on this subject, as well as a free download of the full-length audio book (which is only 45 minutes, so not very long).

There have literally been hundreds of books on leadership and management, so please feel free to find and quote your own research that resonates with your own experiences.
Weeks 14 and 15: Final Presentations
Prepare a 10-minute presentation that describes you as a leader in the hospitality management industry. Include any learnings from this semester. Be prepared to host and lead a 5- to 10-minute Q&A session or class discussion with your classmates following your presentation.
