Finding Your Voice

Unit 3 Proposal

Jonathan Sichka

What I plan to teach my audience about is how DNA advancments impact exonerations. More specifically how people who are innocent get wrongfully convicted and the most occuring reason on how they get released and exonerated from prison. The audience I am trying to reach is forensic analysts and forensic scientists. I am not 100% in what genre I am planning to write it in but for now I am thinking on informing my audience with a video. I choose to inform in this genre because I feel it is the best way to attract the audience’s attention. I intend to get started by having an outline that breaks up the video into a few parts. Recording the video in several pieces  and editing it together. My concerns with this project is that the video will not come out towards my liking, the information may not reach the intended audience, or the video may be very choppy and not have a good flow to it.

This is a very interesting topic and the audience you’re trying to reach obviously makes sense for your topic. One question I have is, is it possible to make your audience bigger, maybe if its bigger it can reach more people who may be involved in things like these. There are many kinds of videos that can inform people, what kind of video will it be, slideshow, animation, a speaking video? There are some things I wonder about this topic, for example, do some people get wrongfully convicted on purpose because of bias during their sentencing? I think the “intended audience” depends on the info you provide and how you deliver it to be honest, if you do that correctly you would be sending your info to that audience. Also since you want to do a video YouTube would be a great place to find similar videos and you can even upload your video there as well.
