For the comments on my Unit 1 Essay you said how I could’ve addressed a broader audience by introducing someone who says “all kids must go to college and make education the most important aspect of their life”. You added how I should’ve emphasized that college should be used as a tool. You commented on my Steve Jobs and Kanye West example and how they were probably or already well educated and specifically educated above average, so I should’ve used well known entrepreneur instead because it would make more sense in the context of my essay. At the end you added that I should’ve placed my test paragraph somewhere else like after the paragraph that comes after it and that I should’ve transitioned more into it rather than abruptly just start talking about it. I will use all of these suggestions by taking things out, putting things in and structuring the essay differently, I think it will make my essay stronger. These suggestions will help me with Unit 2 because now I know what I should avoid in my essay.

The author of “The Rewarding Aspects of Music Listening Are Related to Degree of Emotional Arousal” is VN Salimpoor who studied at McGill University, Centre for Interdisciplinary Research on Music Media and Technology and the International Laboratory for Brain, Music and Sound Research. She definitely has a love for neuroscience and how music affects the brain because of her vast studying on the topic. Her audience are probably people who do similar studying to her or people who are interested on this specific topic. This article probably took some time to write so the author could’ve been writing and thinking about this topic for a while but this is around the time it was finished and published (2009). The genre is educational because the reader will learn why music is so pleasurable to humans, and the scientific findings that were found after experiments and research. The tone is neutral or informative, the author is just telling us about facts. This article helps me answer my question because it provides different kinds of answers to my questions compared to my last source, so now I can answer my question in a different way with the more information that I have from the article. The article actually wasn’t only put together by Salimpoor, but also by other researchers with credible backgrounds, and many references are cited.
