What is the future of tomorrow?; has the future of tomorrow begun? Many things have advanced since the creation of Earth. Since the invention of the first computer in 33,000 BC the Ishango Bone not the actual computer but, the bone helped people with calculating to solve complex problems. To the computers and mobile devices of today including the Mac, Sony VAIO, Alienware, Gaming PCs, ASUS, HP, Samsung, and some of the mobile devices such as Iphone IOS, Samsung Galaxy S3 Andriod and the Nexus of Google. One of these accomplished goes to man that has passed away few years ago from Metastatic Insulinom
a, at the age of 56, Steve Jobs.
Who is Steve Jobs? Steven Paul “Steve” Jobs born on February 24,1955- October 5, 2011 was an American entrepreneur also dropped out of Reed College located in Portland, OR. The inventor of best known as the co-founder, chairman, and CEO of Apple Inc. Through Apple, he was widely recognized as the pioneer of the computer revolution. He has transformed one industry after another from computers, music, movies, computer software, to smartphones. He is also responsible for serving and co-founded worked as chief executive of Pixar Studios.
As to include Steve Job is responsible for anything with “I’ in it such as iMac, iPhone, iPod, iTouch, iPad, iCloud, iOS, iBook he is responsible in the making of all these devices that is affiliated with Apple. Later, Steve Jobs became a member for the board of directors of Walt Disney Company in 2006 when Disney purchased Pixar. Jobs was among the first to see a potential for Xerox PARC’s mouse driven graphical user interface, which would create the Apple Lisa and one year later, the Macintosh would be developed and on the market. Not, all are the things he is successful for also to mention he is successful for introducing the LaserWriter, one of the first widely available laser printers, to the market.
How does Steve Jobs success relate to Art & Design and Graphic Arts? One of them is Steve Jobs had many ups and downs in his life and career. This is exactly what Art students go through they have many ups and downs with their designs. Steve Jobs might be an entrepreneur but, he wasn’t perfect after one semester later, he had dropped out, later taking up the study of philosophy and foreign cultures.
He and his fellow friend Steve Woziak and attended meetings of the Homebrew Computer Club with him. Steve Jobs and Woziak started working by 1976, they founded the Apple Computer in the Jobs garage. The first computer was sold for $666.66 and became numerous times millionaires. This event shows what many Art students go through at; out of nowhere there are Art students that find their pieces to be trash but, however somebody likes it and becomes a master piece looked at by many.
I m pretty sure that’s how Steve Jobs might have seen it because Steve Jobs liked everything to be perfect he was perfectionist. That’s the way you must be in the Art world as a designer it is what gives students the ambition and create beautiful things like Steve Jobs. From, my own experience and perspective you must also do more than one thing. Just like it is mentioned in Steve Jobs biography from my resources he had resigned from Apple in 1985; when sales were in a slump and refused to acknowledge it.
He started a new computer hardware company called NeXT. In early 1986 he would end up purchasing Pixar; after selling all of his Apple stock, an he was highly interested. He would buy Pixar, these are the things he did while he was no longer worked for Apple.
This man did things on the side and took the opportunities in his way also, in the field of Graphic Arts and Art & Design you got to do the same things. Or else when you’re fired or resign you will be in a whole lot of mess and lose all your money. Steve Job was a man that setup goals for himself that had to be achieved like when he was working for Pixar to sell its product in the future whenever there was an advance in animation. Back then Pixar was only a software company that was developing the RenderMan 3D rendering software. Its animation business was barely alive but, however everything changed for Steve Jobs once Disney signed with Pixar in 1991.
Disney signed with Pixar to create full-feature computer animated movie. By, 1995 the movie was finally starting to take form and Steve Jobs became enthused by it. Sometimes you got to give up a bit of your belonging meaning money. When Steve Jobs was in Pixar he used some of his personal money to fund Pixar for nine years. This created better investment for Jobs because by 1995 of November the business of Pixar was climbing. Once Toy Story hit the big screens the companies net worth rose over to $1.5 billion – five times the money he had made in Apple in 1980s.
Brief events of Steve Jobs life includes he was born in San Francisco, CA on February 24, 1955. He was the son of Joanne Simpson and a Syrian dad. Later, for unknown reasons was adopted by Paul and Clara Jobs. In 1972, Young Jobs graduated from Homestead High School in Cupertino and enrolled in Reed College a Liberal-Arts College in Portland, Oregon. However, a semester later one semester later he drops out of college. Steve Jobs was more fascinated in technology then he was in college at the time. He took a job at Atari Inc. the leading videogame manufacture at the time. By, 1976 after his trip to India he convinced his friend Steve Woziak to quit his job with HP (Hewlett Packard). As a team together they built the first Apple Computer at the Jobs garage. That computer they built together was sold for a price of $666.66.
Again, I would like to discuss some of Steve Jobs accomplishments. Some of the accomplishments of Steve Jobs includes he built the first ever computer at the age of 21 would later become Macintosh. Designed a computer hardware called NeXT not much of a success but, it had some success the reason was the price was too high it was nearly $10,000 and schools and universities asked for a computer for only $3,000. However, ended failing badly but, I still see it has an accomplishment as long as someone bought it. The biggest thing that happened to Steve Jobs was Pixar signing a contract with Disney in 1991 when they made the first movie on November 1995 called Toy Story. Pixar’s net worth had rose to $1.5 billion a lot he was making at Apple.
The accomplishment was when Jobs was rehired at Apple. A new CEO, Gil Amelio arrived in early 1996 to save Apple. He cut all of the costs, got rid of the third of the workforce, and decided instead of writing a new, operating system from scratch. It was better than Apple acquired a one. Eventually he bought NeXTSTEP, the operating system of NeXT. Steve Jobs convincing him to buy the whole company for $400 million. By, December 1996: Steve Jobs was back home to Apple he created. But, however things went bad the company lost $700 million in the first quarter of 1997 and its board decided to get rid of CEO Gil Amelio he was gone by 1998. By, September 1998 Steve Job accepted to become the interim CEO at Apple.
Until January 2000 the Apple company finally got back on its feet once the Aqua was introduced to the world. Later, on the Mac OS X made a transition and the OS X team worked very hard and released the six major version the system every year between 2001-2007 and they still do to this day on. Each time more stability, rapidity and features were added.
Once Apple had been resurrected by the iMac, Steve Jobs started to focus on ways to make its company grow. He decided to use Apple’s knowledge of making hardware and the software to do all of that. Macs at the time were very powerful and attractive machines, but also have them run software that no windows PC can. The first move was called desktop video the ability to shoot and edit personal movies on the Mac. He had been convinced that the desktop video would be a big deal as desktop publishing had been in the 1980s, he introduced the iMac DV and a digital movie editing software called iMovie but however wasn’t quite a success.
By, the time it w
as 2000 Jobs realized that nobody really cared much about digital movies and Napster was at the peak of popularity, and all the young people were spending time downloading music and listening to MP3 music files. The iTunes program was started to get develop in March 2001, Steve Jobs started a development program to created the Apple branded MP3 player before the year’s holiday season: the Ipod was born. By, October 23, the cute white digital device was introduce and the tagline was 1,000 songs in your pocket’. This was the beginning of the iPod nation I remember how hype everyone was about the iPod I didn’t get my first iPod till 2004 when I was 14 years old my first was an iPod Photo the first ever color screen iPod. Everyone had one slowly nobody was buying the Sony Walkman devices.
It was soon becoming clear that iPod benefited from music piracy, and that its sales could go even higher if there was a legal way to download music. Steve Jobs however did not wait for the music industry to reinvent itself. He went all of the record labels and negotiated landmark deals that would lead to the introduction of the iTunes Music Store in April 2003. The iTunes Store was the success, that sold over one million songs in the first week.It was also later introduced to the Windows as well six months later, October 2003.
Despite such a great success, Apple didn’t rest on. In January 2004,the first ever iPod Mini was introduced, a more compact version of the iPod that sold at $249. After this people no longer used the Sony Walkman. The iPod adventure was far from over once the $99 iPod Shuffle was introduced then, in 2005 the Ipod nano the smallest iPod ever, and the iPod video in 2006. Ipod had become a success, and the iTunes Store had sold over one billion songs.
The creation of the iPod also played a role in shaping the future of Steve’s ‘other’ company, Pixar. Pixar was a major company after releasing hits after hits (A Bug’s Life (1998), Toy Story 2 (1999), Monsters Inc. (2001) and Finding Nemo (2003), the animation studio had let go of its distribution deal with Disney, mainly of the rising tensions between Jobs and Disney CEO Michael Eisner. Until Eisner was out of the portion Steve Jobs would not be working for Pixar.
Bob Igner would soon become CEO in September 2005 after Steve Jobs opinion was heard when he said he would not make another deal with the Magic Kingdom company until Eisner was out. Rumor was that Bob Igner made a phone call to Steve Jobs asking him to come back to Pixar. Steve Jobs took the opportunity so he can also put his new Apple plan in effect. He was going to introduce an iPod with video capabilities, of course he wanted a movie store to go with it. By, January 24, 2006 the friendly acquisition of Pixar took place putting a $7.4 billion in stock on the table. Jobs became a Disney board member and owned a 7% of Pixar’s stock.
   By, 2003 Steve Jobs had started a secret project to develop a tablet. By, 2004-2005, he realized he could do more after the 
creation of the iPod. He also realized the technology that the group developed could also be used in a phone rather than a tablet. It was also possible to make Mac OS X run on a phone. Steve Jobs introduced the iPhone on January 9, 2007 was one of most memorable moments in Jobs life. Iphone wasn’t just a breakthrough digital device it is (an iPod, a phone and an internet communicator all in one device). He did the same he went and negotiated landmark deals with wireless carrier AT&T before he introduced the iPhone. He did it without even showing the iPhone to AT&T.
The AT&T carrier would pay Apple the share of all their iPhone subscription revenues. However, AT&T put no software on the iPhone, and no logo either. The original iPhone was had already been a hit regardless of its $399 price tag, Apple had sold over 6 million when they were out. Once Apple introduced the cheaper 3G iPhone sales skyrocketed in 2008 at a price tag of $199 and its App Store.
The iPhone had took over the business so much that the tablet idea was idle for a while. It was now time to restart that project, which led to the introduction of the iPad. It had been decided that the iPad would be running on the same operating system as the iPhone, now would be called the iOS. It would be best benefited for the needs of the App Store on the device. However, it was unfortunate that Steve Jobs’ health was no longer good. He seemed to have recovered in 2010. But, by 2011 his health was bad he announced he was taking a medical absence, without saying it was coming to an end. He still would come back and made two public presentations at the Apple event for the iPad and iOS. He would introduce the iPad 2 in March 2011, and the second one in June 2011, when he introduced the iCloud.
In the many ways iCloud seemed very similar to the Digital Hub Strategy. But, this time it was better and was well suited for the iOS devices and would lock them into the Apple ecosystem. The iCloud allowed users to sync email, documents, and media across their Macs, iPhones, iPod Touches, iPads. This was very important to Steve Jobs who put iOS as the most important part of Apple and it would be the key to its future.
However, unfortunately Steve Jobs would end up having cancer that. As a painful remainder it was time for Steve Jobs to put the company affairs in order before his death. He made sure that Apple would be able to operate without him. In late 2008, he hired the dean of the Yale School of Management. He would also consolidate with his executive team and agree with the board to put COO Tim Cook in charge.
Steve Jobs last public appearance was in June 2011, he revealed a plan for the future Apple campus in Cupertino, a huge spaceship looking building. All due to his deteriorating health, he would resign as Apple CEO on August 24, 2011.Steve Jobs would spend his last days designing a boat for his family. Where he planned to travel the world with his family. The disease took him quickly and; would die peacefully at home on October 5, 2011, the day after the introduction of the iPhone 4S, he viewed from his bed.
All of his accomplishments are well suited to be appealing to the ADGA because he was man of intelligence, courage, tenacious efforts and he pushed his limits all the way. The ADGA at City Tech wants their students to be students that dream big and that aren’t afraid to push their limits to the end. Regardless of mistake, regrets, horrible designs, horrible grades and even horrible sketches. In the end if you look at Steve Jobs the man was no superhero without regrets and mistakes. Steve Jobs was a man of ambition to never stop working hard and sure he was lazy but who isn’t?
In my opinion I think it would be awesome if Apple came up with a video game system and a huge touch screen panel where we can design like we are sketching on it. I guess the videogame console would be called iGame. I would like to see where Apple would go with it would it be a success in the business. For one thing Apple never has created a videogame console and Microsoft has, called the Xbox. I think they would call the huge touch screen panel the iSketch or the iDesign just for the designer. It be fascinating and intriguing because one it would be cool and it would be comfortable for designer without using the mouse or the drawing tablet on your lap but use it like a painter.
Steve Jobs is a genius that has done so much to suit the needs of the consumer and my life easier with the iPhone 5, iPad 2, iCloud, and of course my loved MacBook Pro. The MacBook Pro is the most wonderful thing that has happened to Art because the resolution is beautiful and colorful. The creation of Apple products such as the OS X and a better Pixar has never made me love technology and animated movies this much. Rest in peace Steve Jobs you are like family to me whenever I see my apple devices I see a Steve Jobs smiling.
