I think this portrait is successful because of her happy expression and the back lighting, the light in the back makes her “pop” out of the frame. Her face is side lit so that the left side is bright and the right side has more shadows. I think that maybe, when taking this photograph, we should have made the light a little bit softer and more even on both sides. But other than that I really like it.
