Mental Health Resources (info for Faculty)

If you have a student who appears to be having a mental health crisis in class, you may contact the Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) . 

The BIT is comprised of counselors, public safety officers, accessibility officers and more to help best assess the needs of and resources available to a student.

What kinds of students should I refer to BIT?

Any student who is behaving unusually.
Examples: Talking to themselves. Not being able to answer simple questions. Extremely argumentative. Hostile or overly sensitive. Pacing back and forth. Frantic.

Info for Students:

Students can be referred to the Counseling Center which has zoom and in-person crisis counseling.

They can also be directed to NYC WELL resources, free to all New Yorkers. There are talk, text and chat resources available in a variety of languages.
