Strengths

My biggest strength is my ability to learn. I came to the United States when I was 27 years old and had to learn English as a second language. I received an Associate’s degree in nursing from Poland, so once I learned English, I studied for the NCLEX and passed. Last year I passed the CCRN examination, and now I’m continuing my education to obtain my Bachelor’s degree. I have worked in several units in the hospital: medical/surgical unit, rehabilitation unit, and now in the ICU. I crave fast paced environments and a work environment where I can put my analytical skills to use. I believe another strength of mine is my compassion to my patients; I try to put myself in their shoes and understand their concerns and frustrations. I always try to be an advocate for patients’ rights and give them a voice in their care plan. I think it is important to listen to a patient’s wants and needs to make the patient feel as if they have autonomy in their care plan, to improve their quality of life.
