Introduction

My name is Edyta Zychowicz. I am currently in school working on my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing at New York City College of Technology. Previously, I attended nursing school in Poland, where I acquired my Associate’s degree in nursing.

Currently I work at Coney Island Hospital in the ICU unit. I strive to be an advocate for my patients to ensure their safety and give them a voice when they are in their most vulnerable state. I try to support the patient’s family and educate them on the status of their condition.

Outside of school and my career, I like to exercise. I believe establishing an exercise routine is important for nurses, we have to be able to lift patients and we are often on our feet all day. Regular physical exercise can help nurses be able to do their job more easily. Regular exercise also improves executive functions such as planning and organizational skills, and helps relieve stress- which can be beneficial in a nursing career.
