Emanuel Pichardo Listening log-1

Song: Tye Tribbett- We Gon’Be Alright

3 Repetitions I notice:
Music:
The Song repeats a lot the triplet hi hat through the whole song.
The 808 Bass plays the same patterns in the intro and also at the end of the song as well.
Song:
“We gon’ be alright, we gon’ be alright
We gon’ be alright, alright
We gon’ be alright, we gon’ be alright
We gon’ be alright, alright.”

3 Changes I notice in the music:
Music:
One change is when the song gets to the chorus and gets to the build up.
The song also goes from singing to rapping through the whole song.
In the song it goes from no drum to a calm melody.

3 phrases that strike me:
“In these last days
Evil times will come and it’s here today
Look at all the hate
Senseless crime and murder everyday
Human trafficking, racism, policy brutality
Bullying, rape, child molesta shun the appearance of evil I pray

Let Your Kingdom come, let Your will be done
In the Earth
Let Your glory rise, let Your Son shine
Let it burst
Through the dark clouds”

“We gon’ be alright, we gon’ be alright
We gon’ be alright”
The battle isn’t yours, this belongs to the Lord
Stand still, don’t fight, we know that
We gon’ be alright”

When i heard this song it made me feel that even after all we are going through right now in this world and in this country, i know and have hope that everything is going to be alright. I trust in God and I know he will keep my family safe and everyone i Love. I know that everything happens for a purpose and i know that at the end of all of this thing will get better.

  1. Song: None of my Business By Andy Mineo
    3 Repetitions I notice:
    Music:
The Song repeats a lot of the drums through the whole song, the hi hats are a little bit less settled.
The 808 Bass plays the same patterns throughout the song.
    Song:
“That’s none of my business (What they think ’bout me)
That’s none of my business (What they sayin’ ’bout me)
That’s none of my (That’s none of my business)
That’s none of my (That’s none of my business).”
3 Changes I notice in the music:
    Music:
One change is that at the end of the song is all singing .
The song also goes from rapping to singing in the chorus through the song.
In the song it’s more of a calm melody and then his hot come in the chorus.
    3 phrases that strike me:
“Real ones, they don’t talk about you they talk to you
When they can’t miss, yeah that’s when they take a shot for you
When they throw stones then you know they don’t rock with you..”
“Yeah, if you don’t like me, that’s your problem
When I let it bother me, that’s my problem
And I’ve got enough problems, I got enough..”
“Why does everybody wanna take one up?
You ain’t prayed for me, you ain’t take one up
When they don’t know the story they just make one up, aye
Gossip, stop it, why do you want to talk to me about it?”
These song phrases stroke me because sometimes people we need to just not care what people say about us. It also talks about how there are so many friends that fake who hear a story about you and just make one up that is not even true. We need to learn to not pay attention to those things. Haters will be haters, and that on period lol.

Song: I Ain’t Done By Andy Mineo

    3 Repetitions I notice:
    Music:
The Song repeats a lot of the drums through the whole song is fire and the hi-hats too.
The 808 Bass is strong!! I love it, it plays the same patterns throughout the song.
    Song:
    “I ain’t done, I ain’t done, I ain’t done
As long as there’s breath in my lungs
    I ain’t done, I ain’t done, I ain’t done
As long as there’s breath in my lungs, I ain’t done”

3 Changes I notice in the music:
    Music:
One change is that at the end of the song is all singing.
The song also goes from cream rapping to a more normal rapping for a little.
In the song it’s not a calm song it is more like a storm and then after calm and then a storm lol.

    3 phrases that strike me:
“Oh well if they don’t like it
I might turn up by myself
    Uh, yeah yeah uh uh
    Uh, I don’t need opinions
No, I did this for myself (for myself, aye)”

“Uh, just came out of the winter
Just came out like a winner
Had a break down, couldn’t stay down figure
Rather die trying, then to live like quitter, wooh
Yeah, my problems big, but I know God way bigger
    What you ‘spect?”
“I know you feel like you can’t change
I know you think it’ll always be the same
I wanna be full of potential again
    But I ain’t done”

I really love this is basically about him saying that even if people don’t want to help him or that even if he doesn’t get any help from people he’s going to make it for himself. For example, this song that he wrote and the rest of the album, no producer wanted to help him make the beat or the recording, so what he did was he made himself without one’s help. So what this song shows me is that sometime when there aren’t people to give you help, you make it by yourself.

    3 phrases that strike me:

“Oh no not today, do not behave when blood is on the leaves
Weep before you speak, think before you eat
How you love a country’s food more than its people?
‘Cause I think you hide behind your politics
You do not want answers, you want arguments
    Okay”

“Yes, I love the kingdom more than I love my nation
Yes, I love my neighbor more than I love his papers”

“Levanta tu cabeza y sigue caminado
La esperanza sigue viva (long live the champion)
    Y hay que seguir luchando”

In this song KB Speaks Despite the oppression faced by many Hispanic/Latino groups in the United States, GabrielRodriguezEMC, on his verse of the song, reminds this community that they share a sense of unity because of God’s word. This verse is all the more meaningful as EMC shouts out several nations that are facing real struggles including Cuba, Chile, Nicaragua, Argentina, and Bolivia.
