Progress on Technical Definition

Progress on the technical definition assignment is going  fine so far. For my technical definition assignment I will be defining the term “machine learning”. I believe I have the main three articles I am going to use already, although I am feeling a bit unsure about one of them. However, I believe it should be enough to rack up enough information to reach at least the bare minimum of 750 words. I am still looking for more sources to work with just to supplement the main articles.

Thoughts on the 500-word summary assignment

I wasn’t in class today, but seeing what the topic was, I figured I could add my thoughts about the assignment: the biggest hurdle was finding suitable articles to work from. I’ve had experience working from databases before, since I earned my Master’s degree in Information Design and Technology in 2012, and there was plenty of opportunity to write a research paper or two. But it’s not a preference of mine, particularly when searching through databases for articles, with charts and diagrams I may or may not understand. And sometimes the terminology used requires dictionary backup. I’m hoping I did OK on my assignment, because I could use some help transitioning between ideas, putting transition words to practice, and adding finesse to my writing.

The challenge I met

The first assignment of 500 words summary is really a challenge for me. It’s not mean I don’t like writing or I am not willing to do assignment. For a student whose native language is not English like me, it’s difficult to find an applicable article from the library database. I have to spend a lot of time in reading the index.  At first, it’s really inefficiency. Later I did much better.

The experience of finding an article for the 500 Words Summary.

For me the hardest step in writing the summary was to find the article. Because there are so many choices out there, it was difficult to decide which article was the best fit for the assignment. After I decided on which topic to write about, it was then the turn to search for the article. But it is not very easy to navigate through the online library to find what you want.

For this assignment I used Jstore library to find the article. And the article I chose was

“Electric Vehicles: Climate Saviors, or Not?”  by Jack Barkenbus.

Summary Assignment

During the summary assignments, I found some difficulty at first choosing my topic. After much research and assistance from the librarian I was then able to narrow my online search for peer reviewed journals. The writing of the 500 words summary using the peer reviewed journal was a challenge since it required me to read a few times to pick out the main points to focus my writing on.

Thoughts on Summary Assignment

The challenges that I had during this assignment where finding a technical or scientific article that was valid and long enough to write 500 words about it. Another challenge that I had was summarizing the key aspects of the article without it sounding subjective.  In the end I think I did a solid job on assignment.

Jose Guerrero 500 Word Summary

Hello everyone,

Doing this 500-word summary was challenging. It was challenging because I did not know what article to chose. I had to find a credible source and I was looking for an article that interested me. Looking through so many articles was difficult for me and a bit boring to be honest. When I found an article I could work with the challenge became breaking it apart and looking at the main points. After reading the article many times it was possible to write the summary. The most challenging part for me was breaking the article down to get the main points across with enough information for the reader to understand.

500 Words Summary – Willy Chong

While writing the summary, the first problem I encountered was how to start writing it after reading the article a couples time. Another problem I encountered was that the article was kind of lengthy and I needed to trim off parts that I thought were not important or redundant to the reader. Lastly, summarizing the entire article proved to be difficult as there was a lot going on and I couldn’t write more than 500 words in the body of the paper.
