The Search Doesn’t Stop by Shamani Patton

The fact that I am working on the Internet for this project, using search engines such as Google, shows how large of a role digital technologies has on our lives. People are no longer willing to travel to the library, use dictionaries or read any research books for their work, because Google search has made finding information very easy. As a result, Google search has raised our expectations about how easy it should be to find information for learning and remembering. Google search is a web search engine that is owned by Google Inc, which allows people to look up what ever they want by typing in the search box. You are presented with a list of results that are coming from all over the world. Google search is the most used search engine on the World Wide Web, and it handles about three million searches per day. Google has also come out with a new search algorithm, it is a system used to sort through all the information it has when you search and it comes back with answers. Sullivan, Danny states on Search Engine Land, it is called the “hummingbird for it’s fast and precise” characteristics (Sullivan, Danny par. 3). Google Inc came out with this in 2013, the search algorithm basically is used “to sort through billions of web pages and other information it has, in order to return what it believes are the best answers” (Sullivan, Danny par. 2). Google search and similar technologies such as Binge and Yahoo Search are making people lethargic, which is telling our mind and body not to work as hard. Google has expanded in so many ways, such as Google maps, Google talk, and  Google Scholars, therefore many people feels a special comfort for this source.

Google search doesn’t make people stupid, because if we are using Google search as a source of information, we are gaining knowledge on the topic we researched. Therefore this is where the laziness comes in, our brains are now recognizing Google as something to rely on. The brain realizes it does not have to work as hard and it starts to count on search engines such as Google to feed it knowledge because it is always improving. Our brains are adapting to how Google has trained our minds over a period of time, not to remember information, but to remember where to find the information. Our memory systems are not as strong as it was before, knowing there is a computer right by our sides which holds everything we should be holding in our minds. I will discuss how the use of Google search inhibits us from remembering information and gaining knowledge, why others may think otherwise that it helps them to store information in their brain, and why we should not depend on Google in the future but strengthen our mind on our own.

As John Medina states in his book Brain Rules, “working memory is a collection of busy work spaces that allows us to temporarily retain newly acquired information. If we don’t repeat the information, it disappears” (Medina 159). People will feel like they don’t have to think too long on a topic or try to remember it by repeating it because, where is the internet going? Nowhere, it is actually getting better. In Brains Power vs Technology, by Sunshine CoastDaily (Queensland), Michael Nagel said “memory was highly selective and gave the example of an encounter with a barking dog. If you felt threatened by the dog, then that would be how you remembered the situation the next day: as a situation of danger. If not, you might remember it later as just being annoying” (qtd. in “Brains Power vs Technology” Sunshine CoastDaily par. 18).  If it is not an necessity to remember the situation, people do not think that they need to remember the information or repeat it because they just want to get it done and out of the way to move on to the next quest. A lot of the time people don’t think about the consequences on how it affects their memory. In addition to selective memory, Google search is making our brains become shallow over time, it also pulls us away from our close family and friends. At dinner tables, everyone is either on a tablet or starring deeply into a phone screen like they are programed to do so, and it would not feel normal if they had a conversation about each others day. Also our attention span has decreased tremendously, before I could get trapped into a book and read forever, now once I see a long passage I am disinterested quickly. All with the help of Google, everyone is moving fast paced, not wanting to slow it down and take time to cogitate on matters at hand.

Google reduces our intelligence and impairs our memory, in the non-fiction book, The Shallows, Nicholas Carr, discusses how digital technologies like Google search is affecting his brain. “Over the last few years I’ve had an uncomfortable sense that someone, or something, has been tinkering with my brain, remapping the neural circuity, reprogramming the memory” (Carr 5). This is the same feeling my family and I have been experiencing. Our cognitive ability to store information in our minds, has been decreasing tremendously. Our brains are changing rapidly over a short period of time, and it seems that people are not paying attention to that change. Now people are making decisions based on their experience with the use of Google search as apart of their daily life. As an example Carr explains how he feels this when he is reading; “I used to find it easy to immerse myself in a book or a lengthy article” (Carr 5). This was before the growth of digital technology, “Now my concentration starts drift after a page or two” (Carr 5). Considering myself, I feel intense anxiety when I see multiple pages full of information that I have to read for a research project that I have been procrastinating about reading. Whether or not I will find it interesting, knowing that it would take forever to read. Before I was open to reading anything and gaining knowledge, because I knew how smart I would become while reading. Of course, I try to start reading but I automatically switch to thinking about what I want to eat or what I could buy, or what my friends are doing.

In Brains Power vs Technology, by Sunshine CoastDaily (Queensland) “A recent study conducted by psychologists at Columbia University determined that not only has technology changed the way we live our everyday lives, but also the way we think. The study concluded we were less likely to remember information if we knew where to find it” (“Brains Power vs Technology” Sunshine CoastDaily par. 6). We know that we can depend something so “fast and precise” like Google search and it is there when we need to dig into some knowledgable data. Also in Brains Power vs Technology, by Sunshine CoastDaily (Queensland) “University of Sunshine Coast School of Science and Education Associate Professor, Michael Nagel said that despite the study’s conclusion, researchers were still a long way off knowing the full impact of technology on memory, he said it was this factor that would determine if people remembered things rather than how they used Google for example, if we don’t think it is important for us to remember something as it can be easily accessed again, then our brain won’t remember it” (qtd. in “Brains Power vs Technology” Sunshine CoastDaily par. 10). Being that people have so much going on in their lives and so much thoughts going through their mind a day, they count on Google search to store information that they can not take on because their brain has gotten indolent. Just as Clive Thompson stated in The Shallows, by Nicholas Carr, “offloading data onto silicon, we free our own gray matter for more germanely ‘human’ task like brainstorming and daydreaming” (qtd. in Carr 180). We would rather be thinking about something that we have an emotional connection to like our dreams or goals. In which we give the more “complex” matters to Google to do the hard work, we often seek wisdom on a digital screen, rather than have confidence and intelligence in our own minds.

Many people can’t even remember their first time using Google, for example my mother Joanne Bristol said, “I do not remember my first time using google, but it is very helpful looking up words and definitions, sometimes when you need to spell a simple word that you should know from first grade, you just ask Google and it pops up before you even finish spelling it out and it also gives you the definition, if I was to take a big spelling bee right now, I would fail. I also use google maps every time I have to go somewhere and they tell me word for word where I have to go and before we needed to use actual paper maps” (Bristol par. 4). Hearing my mother talk about how she will fail a spelling test concerns me for the next generation. People are wanting to achieve a facile living, and expect Google to make their lives simple. Google is making us not want to work hard, think and accumulate information in our brain, so this will influence us to not want to put our minds to the challenge. In The Shallows, by Nicholas Carr, Kobi Rosenblum who heads the Department of Neurobiology and Ethology at the University of Haifa in Israel states “While an artificial brain absorbs information and immediately saves it in it’s memory, the human brain continues to process information long after it is received, and the quality of memories depends on how the information was processed” (qtd. in Carr 191). He articulates that digital technologies such Google search will consume information but that all it does, there is no insight on whether the material is legit or not.  People will automatically trust what is on Google, but with long term memory we are able to ponder on the information and gain knowledge which pushes us to be more confident in our thoughts. Nicholas Carr then states “Biological memory is alive. Computer memory is not” (Carr 191). We are able to speculate on our thoughts, expanding on what we know, technology can not do this, which restricts it’s information from growing.

Although it is shown that Google search can impede our memory and restrict many from learning, others will agree that the use of Google search can promote learning and augment our memory. According to Internet Live Stats, “Google now processes over 40,000 search queries every second on average which translates to over 3.5 billion searches per day and 1.2 trillion searches per year worldwide” (Internet Live Stats par. 1). The search doesn’t stop, and it serves people all over the world with information. These numbers numbers show how important Google is, many people trust what is on Internet and they go to Google for the answers. According to my cousin Kayla St.louis, “I believe that Google search enhances our learning because whatever you don’t know, you could just ask Google, I remember I started using Google in High School. I would research my topic on Google and go back to my teacher and she’ll say the information is correct, thats when I started to rely on Google” (St.louis par. 2). Students gain a lot of information from just researching a project which influences them to begin searching almost everything they encounter. Even if they already researched it in the past, to them it is a place to store what ever they need to know.

The children in the upcoming generation will only know how to use digital technology, According to The Shallows, by Nicholas Carr someone who approves of this is Peter Suderman, who writes for the American Scene, argues that with our more or less permanent connections to the Internet “it’s no longer terribly efficient to use our brains to store information” (qtd. in Carr 181). He believes that memory should point us to places on the web, where we could find the information and it is useless to try and remember material in our head. Also Carr tells readers that Don Tapscott, who is a technology writer says “now that we can look up anything ‘with a click on Google, memorizing long passages or historical fact’ is obsolete and memorization is a waste of time” (qtd, in Carr 181). Basically these two writers have plenty of things going on in their lives and the last thing they need to do is try to store loads of material in their brain. Since digital technology is growing tremendously, becoming flexible, and responsive, people are relying on it more. Griffiths, Thomas L, believes that we should indicate how to “obtain novel models of human memory” (Griffiths, Thomas L 1075). He has done plenty of research like testing people on whether he can predict human performance on a fluency task using PageRank, which is of apart Google search engine. He explains that “Establishing this correspondence is important not just for the hypotheses about human cognition that may result, but as a path toward developing better search engines” (Griffiths, Thomas L 1075). Griffiths believe their is a bright future for Google search and it’s algorithm, by making it better with a number of test. He also believes that human memory research will be able extend the capacities of search engines, hence developing them into something better. The Internet’s search engine such as Google is now apart of our lives, but it is only that friend that we only go to when we need something.

Many don’t realize how using Google Search is altering how we think. The human brain can no longer store loads of knowledge, but instead knows where to find the data. Children in the upcoming generation are looking up to the older people and following what they do. Once they see how much we rely on the Internet for answers, they will do the same. They will soon start to look up to Google for all their injuries instead of going to their parents and talking about it, eventually pulling their relationship apart. Also since Google is advancing with it’s new mobile-friendly ranking algorithm, people are likely to use it more throughout their day. In the future, people should be more open to reading more physical books and actually repeating the information in their mind to help them remember. We can still be able to use Google search, once in a while but only as a supplement and once we gain knowledge on the topic at hand, we should never forget it. When you rely on your thoughts and ponder on what you remember, you build confidence in yourself and your own knowledge instead of relying on others’ technologies.

The Strive for Fashion Merchandising and Styling by Shamani Patton

My name is Shamani Patton, I am 18 years old and I was born in Brooklyn, New York. I’m getting a degree in Fashion Marketing (AAS), at The City College of Technology which houses the Professional Studies program that my major is apart of. While it might sound strange that fashion is a part of business, it actually makes sense, because the business area of fashion is just as complex as the designing part. With this major I am prepared to be a part of the fashion and business world at the same time. I would get to work with a corporation, which are full of different artistic people. I will also acquire my own company and partner with retail stores as a buyer, working with different firms and designers. This career comes with traveling the world, learning about fashion all over the globe. Since I shop from places like in Europe and Asia, I can tell a lot about various styles. It helps to be a stylist working in this business related career. This career best fits me because, I have a passion for fashion, I intend on having a business of my own and retail stores are like my second home, I am able to look at an outfit and know where someone got it from or how much it retails for. I see myself eventually opening up my own boutique later on. In this essay I will discuss the following topics about the business of Merchandising, design/textile in Styling and my take on Fashion, I will provide some background information about my major and I will also tell you more about how I plan to excel in my major and extend my future career.

Fashion Merchandising, is the business side of fashion, not only having a eye for style but also have a mind for business. It’s focused on the retail industry, another name for it is fashion buyer. The name is self explanatory, a buyer, which I intend to become, selects what items will be stocked in a store, based on the latest trends, of which have to be kept up with. Merchandisers works with designers, sales representatives, and other buyers. What’s great about this career is being able to travel to different places, going to fashion shows, attend trade fairs, wholesale showrooms and work closely with many designers who I admire. While observing the latest trends, Merchandisers also accompany big magazine companies, such as VOGUE, InStyle and Glamour. This career entitles to work with department stores, chain stores or boutiques. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, Purchasing managers and Buyers evaluate suppliers based on price, quality and delivery speed and maintain and review records of items bought, cost, delivers, product performances, and inventories (United States, Purchasing Managers, Buyers and Purchasing Agents, What they do par.1).

In major fashion stores there may be different levels of seniority, such as trainee, assistant, senior buyers, buying managers and buying director.  A Fashion Merchandiser can work in department stores or clothing outlets as a fashion designer, fashion buyer, catalog production managers or merchandise display artist. The responsibility entitles to purchase fashion items that can be promoted and sold by the outlet. Which is acquainted with market demands and fashion trends. Store decoration and merchandise displays are the responsibilities of fashion merchandisers where the latest apparels and items are on display to align with the store’s branding and image. According to the New York City College of Technology College catalog 2015-2016, my coursework will prepare me for an, “insight into many subjects that help to explain sociological and psychological factors which influence fashion interest and demand in today’s global market” (College Catalog 125). This explains that I will learn to take a cognitive approach to customers and other buyers on their reasoning and their decisions, related to my research in Merchandising. The New York City College of Technology College catalog 2015-2016, states “ students in fashion marketing are introduced to buying and management careers in fashion related manufacturing firms, showrooms, retail stores and electronic commerce” (College Catalog 125). This will help me to understand what other careers in management and buying are related to fashion firms and retail stores, I would gain knowledge about different firms that I would want to be apart of in the future.

A fashion merchandiser may work for a textile manufacturer, a designer or a fashion retail outlet such as a department store, children’s clothing store or a discount store (SUNY Oneonta, Fashion Merchandising Job Description). After I graduate, first I would love to work with a company as a Fashion Buyer, then manage my own Merchandising business, and later on obtain my own boutique. On the New York City College of Technology College catalog 2015-2016, “graduates are employed in business organizations in the U.S and Europe as executive or administrative trainee. Some also operate their own business” (College Catalog 125), this states that people that graduated, became employed as an executive and administrative employee or opened their business in the U.S and Europe, which motivates me to work harder towards my goal and get my degree to become a Fashion Merchandiser and establish my own business. “Some graduates work with Saks, Macy’s, J.C Penny, Dolce & Gabana and Victoria Secret” (College Catalog 125). I would like to work with one of these businesses to gain experience, and one day open a boutique in the City of New York, which is the home of Fashion.

My interest in fashion is lifelong, as I was growing up I was inspired by different people’s style, as I matured I developed my own sense of style being all about fashion. My passion for fashion flourished when I started middle school and other people’s outfits first mesmerized me. At the age of twelve, I began to care about my appearance and personal fashion to such a degree that, I feel as if I was born to love the fashion world. I began dressing myself in unique ways, which earned me compliments on my outfits. I knew my talent and wanted to turn it into a career.

The business part of fashion is interesting to me because its not what a lot of people expect from the fashion world. Once I began to say the word “fashion”, people automatically think about designing, sewing, etc, but buying, advertising, promoting and marketing is what makes the money. After the garments are made, they will have to be sold, so this is where the business comes in, there is a strategy to get someone to buy a product. A class that is a major part of my degree in Fashion Merchandising is MKT 1102, Principles of Selling, as stated in the the New York City College of Technology College catalog 2015-2016, “the theory and practice of customer-centered selling including techniques of handling objections, demonstrating merchandise and closing sales” (College Catalog 127). I would like to obtain my own company in the future, my business would be to merchandise, advertise, promote, buy and even sell products. Once I start off working with a company, I can meet a lot of people interested in the business of fashion as well and this will expand my knowledge in fashion design. This will help me to create my own boutique. When I dress up, people ask where I get my clothing from and this has been happening since the ninth grade, I tell them and this gives the store business. It is the art in how you put clothing together which makes people want to purchase and this is a gift that I am able to turn into a career, that I enjoy doing. Since I am advanced in the latest fashion trends, being a fashion merchandiser will be effortless.

Retail stores rely entirely on fashion merchandisers, buyers, and purchasing agents. According to the Occupational Outlook Handbook, Purchasing agents and buyers consider price, quality, availability, reliability, and technical support when choosing suppliers and merchandise (United States, Purchasing Managers, Buyers and Purchasing Agents, What they do par.4). Since I admire how a lot of the stores I visit are set up, I can already seen how it will be working to decorate and promote sales in stores. It’s not easy to sell products, but you can set up the stores in a way, that encourage people to want to buy them. Schielke and Leudesdorff, tells us, “Store design as one aspect to amplify brand image and identity plays a vast role in today’s retail environment” (Schielke and Leudesdorff 672). Meaning people are more likely to make a purchase, if they admire the design and atmosphere in the store. In retail stores, people are mostly influenced by the mannequin’s outfit. They collect everything the mannequin has on from head to toe and buy it. This is what makes the sales, people are attracted to how well the display is dressed and they know they could achieve the same look from the store. I compare myself to a mannequin, or someone who dresses the mannequin, which is a stylist, advertiser or merchandiser. All these positions are a part of Fashion Merchandising, this is a big part in the sales which leaves customers satisfied with the quality, style and pricing of the clothing.

I aim to constantly keep up with the latest trends, and engage in internship programs with companies like Victoria Secret, Zara and H&M while studying my major as a Fashion Merchandiser. Also, I would distinguish myself from others in this career by doing extended research. Since I am one of those people who appreciate fashion for the art that it is, I know how customer’s think, which will benefit me to promote, buy, and control how sales are being made in my career later on. I am dedicated to fashion, so merchandising and buying will be intriguing. I plan to put all my effort into my work and work as many hours to achieve my goal and help retail stores. For the next five to ten years, I desire to get on-the-job training for more than one year, learning how to perform basic duties, including monitoring inventory levels and negotiating with suppliers. Then I plan to start my career as a Fashion Merchandiser, and work with as many retail stores as possible. I will then commence a business of my own, and look for workers who exceed my expectations and has a passion related to mine. I will travel all around the world to fashion shows, trade fairs, wholesale showrooms, and meet different designers, while learning distinctive fashion apparel all about the globe. Later on I will launch my own boutique, selling my designs and other designers merchandise that I found refreshing. Also, I will teach others about the career as a fashion merchandiser when I am older and decide to settle down, while still owning my businesses.

Artistic Fashion by Shamani Patton

I am Shamani Patton, I live in Brooklyn, NY, and I am the “girly girl” that is into everything. I performed danced recitals, did poetry and was in cooking classes all at the age of 5 years old. I wanted to do those things, and ever since then I knew I wanted to do what made me happy in life. I also swam at the YMCA, went on camping trips, joined my HS, Health Professions and Human Services cheerleading team and played in the DeRados steel pan orchestra, which is a band that was born in Trinidad and Tobago where my family is from. In addition to those interest Fashion is an important part of my life, which helped shaped me as a person. As I was growing up, I was inspired by different people’s style and as I was maturing I developed my own sense of style, I was all about fashion. What was really motivating to me was how many compliments I would get and that made me want to keep going. I knew my talent and wanted to turn it into a career.  I am motivated to become a Fashion Merchandiser and a stylist. I currently take a English, Pre-Calc, Principles of selling, Marketing and Business class at City tech. My goals are to get my Bachelor/Masters Degree in Fashion Merchandising, establish my own business and earn the title “the queen of fashion”. Also I plan to have my work featured in many magazines, and show my fashion touch on different celebrities, by them modeling and expressing an attire I put together for them. Some milestones of Fashion includes, different genres of music, the story that art tells, and the glam of makeup.

My passion for fashion flourished when I started middle school and other people’s outfits first mesmerized me. At age 12, I began to care about my appearance and personal fashion to such a degree that, I feel as if I was born to love the fashion world. I began dressing myself in unique ways, which earned me compliments on my outfits. After awhile, friends began to ask me to shop with them if they had an event to attend. In middle school a lot of thing started to change, I mostly looked up to my older cousin, it wasn’t about fashion with her though I just loved the confidence she had in everything she did. I didn’t really care what other thought about how I dressed, because I was comfortable with it and multiple people loved that about me. I had friends that was into art and photography, they would shoot me in front of a graffiti background. I also started wearing makeup here and there and saw how much it glam’d an outfit which was an addition to my creative mind. Unfortunately, I stop dancing in ballet and jazz classes during middle school but that didn’t stop me from pretending to be apart of my favorite artist music video in my mirror.

While my friends told me what they thought were the best careers, I was afraid that those careers delivered success but not happiness. I knew doctors made a lot of money and it was time for me to pick a major for High school, I was so under pressured and I picked a medical school. Now that I’ve matured, I realized that I liked doing business and styling so this is what I wanted my purpose to be. Once I learned how to sew at the Fashion Institute of Technology during an 11 week pre-college program, I was determined to open my eyes to more roles in the fashion world and challenge myself to doing these things. I’ve grown up to like many different genres of music, because its another form of art, I also like to attend art galleries in Brooklyn, and I was always into makeup. I would watch makeup videos on Youtube and hope to one day make one of my own. In addition to those interests, I feel like fashion is the most important to me and plays a big role in my life, because I view it as a big form of art on a daily basis. You can inspire someone just by walking down the street with a “artsy” outfit on, and it shows your personality before you even have the chance to say something to them.

Attending an art gallery for the first time was an influential experience to me. since then, I have learned about and followed the work of up-and-coming artist. At the galleries I’ve attended there were many designers, painters, bands, and poets all in stylish attire, it was my cup of tea. Along with all of this they were playing different types of music and I was influenced by everyone’s creativity. The fact that everyone was different goes to show there’s art in almost anything, you just have to have an eye and an ear for it which is what I have, and I feel comfortable to say I am creative. I was easily influenced by the paintings and raw talent and the galleries, I interpreted into an outfit I would wear. Whether it be a dark and scary painting or a colorful painting, I can construct it into a well put together outfit or maybe I have compared it to an attire I saw in Marc Jacobs or Givenchy’s fashion show. I know many others can look at a painting and interpret it into different things but I can’t help how captivated I am by fashion. Many people loved how I was dressed at the galleries, as if they knew it was my style and I was comfortable with what I had on, I feel like everyone there had no problem being themselves and dressing for them, instead of caring about what other people thought and this is why fashion and art is most important to me. There was even art put up on the walls at Fashion Institute of Technology which was then construed into an outfit and was presented on the walls inside the building.

Just like fashion, makeup changes rapidly. Its all about what’s trending and how you can interpret it as your own. I started off using one or two makeup products but over time I became by own makeup artist. It’s always fun to make-up your face, from the different color eyeshadows, to the red lips, I’ve loved makeup since I started to wear it. It was never a self-esteem thing, because at the time I started wearing it, I was already comfortable with my whole being. Once I started wearing makeup, I noticed other’s wearing it to and I would try to recreate the look to fit me. Youtube is growing tremendously, and a lot of people are starting to make videos on different makeup looks, this surprised me because I’ve notice a lot of people with the same passion as me. Many people that are into make-up also has a thing for the fashion world. As the seasons change their would be a change in the outfit and makeup and people on youtube do their own take of it. Of course everyone inspires someone, which is what I would love to do, whether it be an outfit, the makeup or both. A makeup look can easily inspire an outfit and vice versa. On runways and videos or even shows, the actors/models have makeup on which compliments their outfit.

Fashion has a huge influence in my life, it’s something I think about daily. The thing a lot of people confuse is fashion and style, fashion is popular trends, style is how and what you do with those trends. I feel like everyone has their own preference and style their clothing to what makes them comfortable. That is the only way I love to wear my clothes, I follow my own style and I’m comfortable with what I put on. What greatly influences my fashions statements are magazines like Elle, Vogue, Glamour and InStyle, I have subscriptions to these magazines and the different seasons brings on different designs. Whether its’s a poncho with skinny jeans and booties for the fall or a body con dress with a kimono over it for the spring, I can always do a look similar to it and make it even better, because it’s what I think looks best. My favorite designers are Givenchy, Marc Jacob, Betsy Johnson and Vince Camuto, they are all different but their products are made with quality, its exceptional. My favorite stores to shop at are Zara, H&M, Nordstrom, DSW and Asos, I will admit I can literary shop all day long. When designers are creating clothes, they’re creating art, the different techniques of sewing and what you sew together shows this. This is why I view peoples outfits as moving art, everybody is different and they wear their wardrobe differently.

In addition to having an eye for art. I have an ear for art, too. I understand the relationship between the body and music, or the harmony between the body moving to a rhythm. Any music that can make me dance is my type of music, whether I need an escape or to just listen to my favorite tunes and dance. It’s the different beats, rhythms, sounds, and words that creates a stimulating form of art. I know I will never get tired of music, because its rapidly changing just like fashion and thats what I like, change. I will always love trying different things. Music influences me to dance, which is also another form of art and it gets creative once you freestyle and do whatever you want to do. I use to dance ballet, jazz, tap and modern when I was about 5, up until I started junior high school. My favorite music artist are J Cole, Kendrick Lamar, Rihanna, Beyonce, and Drake, but I listen to earlier rappers, too. I just love how some artist can take older music and make it modern. Music videos always had the latest fashion attire, it would be trending for about a month, especially if it’s a hit song which encouraged people to go out and buy the outfits maybe even turn it into their own style. Sometimes I can just picture a certain outfit being in a certain music video, and different celebrities dress according to their music. I’ve been to multiple photoshoots and fashion shows and most of the time music is playing in the background, this is for the model to connect to by outfit by listening to it, its catches more attention. You hear music all around you and the more music you know the more you open yourself up to a whole different type of art.

My ability to style myself as well as others, has benefitted me in a way that I can make a career out of something I love to do. The fact that many people say that they can see me in the business of fashion is motivating. I love to see how fashion evolved over time, and how quickly it happened, I did projects at FIT which showed the evolution of fashion overtime. I would love to go to fashion shows around the world in the near future. I also will love to work with upcoming designers and bigger designers and style their clothing to be in magazines, on billboards, music videos, and movies. I would love to own my own company as a Fashion Merchandiser and travel to different places to expand my company. Fashion will always be changing, and it will always be apart of my life.
