Advanced Technology
On September 4, 1998 one of the most advanced technology called Google was created in Menlo Park, California. Google has been very convenient and accommodating in many ways. For one, in a way Google has helped many with spelling difficult words. . Google maps has helped many people save valuable time. Overall Google has made a lot of peoples lives easier because of its advanced technology.
For starters, Google’s advanced technology has made things more convenient and accommodating. Google Latitude, for example is one of the most imposing but a very helpful GPS tracker that I have seen on certain smart phones. Google Latitude shows where you are on a map to whoever you allow to see it. My mom is a very loving women but at times she can be very strict as well. My mom gets very worried every time I come home late, which is very often so one day she told me to download Google Latitude so that she can track me at all given times. My mom simply loves the app and it has certainly made her life much easier because Google Latitude shows her where I am at all times.

Another reason, Google has been very helpful in terms of spelling big words and overall grasping knowledge. Not only that but it can help one improve on their out knowledge. Based on research from entrepreneur Neil Patel, Google generally does help people improve their basic out knowledge. For example, say someone asks you “Do you know where New Zealand is located? You might not know but with the touch of a button you can easily search it up on Google and it will tell you exactly where New Zealand is located. Another good example is, lets say you have a big spelling bee coming up soon and you want prepare yourself for any big word that comes your way, you can easily go to Google and type In some big words that you think might be on the list. Google is a great website to study for any possible thing, I’m really not surprised to see how easy life can be with Google by your side. Not only is Google convenient in terms of helping grasp out knowledge but it also can help people save valuable time.

Google maps for example, is an application created by Google to save valuable time and make things more convenient overall. For example it can help you avoid traffic. I personally love Google Maps because ever since I got a car its all I have been using to get to my destinations and it’s a life saver. You can never go wrong with using Google Maps especially when your on a long drive simply because as your driving the app alerts you every time there’s an accident on your route so that you can avoid it and take a faster route. I remember this one time I was on my way to Syracuse and my phone lost its signal, I didn’t panic at all because I knew since I already have Google Maps out on my phone it will still give me directions and help me reach my destination on time.
Although some people might argue that Google reduces our intelligence or impairs our memory, I completely disagree. For starters there has been research done and it shows how Google has effected the human brain in a good way . According to my research , “The advent of the Internet, with sophisticated algorithmic search engines, has made accessing information as easy as lifting a finger, the report says. No longer do we have to make costly efforts to find the things we want” this quote clearly shows how convenient Google really is. When you have the tools at your disposal why not use it to its full potential?. There will always be people that might disagree with you on certain topics but that shouldn’t affect you in any sort of way.

I interviewed one of my peers named “Rafi and I asked him a few questions related to this topic. I asked him questions such as “How do you feel about the modern day technologies such as Google?. He replied saying “ well for me personally its very convenient because I drive Uber for a living and I am always on Google Maps which saves me time and in the real world time is money”. Second question “ What do you think Google would be like in the near future ?. “ I honestly think Google would surpass every other website due it advanced resources such as satellites”. Third question “ If you ever had the chance to work for Google would you take the job or decline it ?. “ Are out of your freaking mind, of course I would take the job, its been a long time dream of mine to become rich and working for Google would literally make my life”.
This particular interview was very interesting. I sat down with my dad and I asked him a few question about the modern day technologies and the first question that I asked him was “ How different would have your life been if you had access to the modern day technologies as you were growing up?. To which my dad replied with a cheeky grin on his face “ I don’t think I would be married to your mother if I had access to Face book”. I couldn’t help but laugh because I know how much my dad really loves my mom. The second question that I asked him was “What did you guys do for fun since you didn’t have access to the Internet growing up?. “Well growing up all I did for fun was hang out with my close friends because nothing beats spending quality time with your loved ones”. As I was interviewing my dad I was thinking to myself, only if our current generation perceived life like my dad did in his youth. The third and last question that I asked my dad was “ Do you think we are being controlled by technologies”. “ Absolutely, I mean lets take you for example every time I see you, you are always on your phone and when ever you’re not on your phone you’re either on you’re laptop are watching television so yea I do think people are controlled by the modern day technologies”.

To sum it all up this particular essay is about how the usage of Google made things and life in general so much easier. In my opinion I believe Google would be way more advanced from 5 to 10 years in the future. Google is already my best friend it makes my life way less complicated and just to imagine how much more advanced it would be in the near future just excites me even more. I have been using Google for about 7 years now and it always surprises me with new apps. For example my two favorite apps from Google is the Google Maps and Google Latitude. These two apps are great in their own ways because one helps me reach my destination whenever I am driving and the other helps my mom keep a track of my where about. I honestly think my life would be totally different for the worse if it wasn’t for Google. I am a huge fan of Google and will always be, Google is the real MVP.

My Major
Hi, my name is Rahat Ahmed, and I am here to earn my degree in Hospitality Management from City Tech. I personally feel that Hospitality Management is best suited for me because ever since I was a kid, I would tell my parents that I wanted to own a restaurant of my own someday. My second reason being is that if I have my own business then I am going to be my own boss where I dictate terms. I am drawn to this field for a number of reasons. I honestly believe Hospitality Management is really for me because I really have a passion for the business and I am really keen to explore it more. In this essay I will elaborate on my interest in Hospitality Management and why I want to be a success someday in the near future. In this writing I will provide a brief background of my major and how I plan on exceeding my expectation that I have for myself. The requirement of major is going to be tough but I am ready for any obstacle that comes my way.
Hospitality Management is the study of the hospitality industry. The main focus of my major is entirely based on hotels, restaurants, cruise ships, amusement parks, destination marketing organization, convention centers and country clubs. In other words my degree is mainly about learning how to manage big companies and organizations. For example if you walk into a five star hotel, you would obviously expect good personnel and management where they fulfill your desired needs as a customer. In my major I will be learning more on how to handle situations where there might be some confusion between the customer and our employee’s. If I am able to graduate with my major in Hospitality Management then I will be the most ecstatic person in the world because with that degree I can get a job as a hotel manager of big companies and make a name for myself. There’s no other better place for me to start thinking seriously about my major then City Tech. Me being a student here at City Tech makes everything easier because I am provided with great professors who are always looking to help out. My degree has a lot of requirements such as the number of different courses that I have to take in order get my degree. According to the “City Tech college Catalog P.108” I need a total of sixty credits to graduate with my degree. “Culinary Arts, Baking and Pastry Arts and Dining Room Operations are the three most important courses that I must complete for my major. Each of these three courses will show me everything there is for me to know in order for me exceed in my major. Brey, T. Eric tells me that having a degree in Management is very handy(Brey 79-102) My major “Hospitality management” is a very good degree to have under your belt because more than 80% of Hospitality Management graduates enter employment within six months of graduation. Popular areas of work include marketing, PR and sales, business management and secretarial roles. According to my research just over 4% of hospitality related function, or broaden their opportunities and moved into other career paths. This gives an indication on how important my degree is to me. Somewhere deep in my heart I know for a fact that this is the career path I want succeed in and make a name for myself.
Ever since I was a kid, I have always wanted to have a restaurant of my own. I used to tell my parents that someday I am going to be very successful in life, where I won’t ever have to struggle. Every morning that I walk into City Tech, I enter with a goal in my mind, a goal to get my education that’s going to benefit me in the long run. I have done some very important research on the salary of a Hotel manager and the minimum amount is $82,510 per year. This itself is a motivation to work even harder to accomplish my goals and strive for more. I don’t want to settle for less when I know I have the ability to reach greater heights and I am certainly up for the challenge that City Tech has to offer. When you have the passion for something, all you have to do is apply yourself to it and I certainly am, I am very much committed to getting my degree in Hospitality Management. According to the “Occupational Outlook Handbook” management occupations in general pays up to $93,910 per year. In life everyone wants to make money in order to live a life that they want rather than settling down for something average. I honestly believe ,I have the potential to accomplish something big in life and I wont give up until I reach the very top. I try to motivate myself as much as I can and seeing how hard my parents works makes me the most determined student in the world. I am waiting on the day when I can finally tell my dad to retire and just enjoy the rest of his life because my dad deserves the best.
In order to succeed in life you need to be your own boss where you dictate terms. Education is the key to success in life because education is something no one can take away from you. You need to have a clear mind on what you really want to do with your life and stick to that plan regardless of how hard it may seem at times. I had plans of coming to college to get a degree in hospitality management since I was a freshman in high school. I would irritate my teachers with questions and they would always help me out because they realized how determined I was about my education. Every year on Career day when guest speakers would come to my high school and talk about their field of work, I would pay very close attention because I knew that in order to succeed in life you need to make a few sacrifices. When I graduated from high school I honestly felt I was one step closer to achieving my dream. I knew the road would be tough but “when the road gets tough the tough gets going”. So far City Tech has been great because all of my professors are really good at their job and they even go beyond to making sure that I am learning the right material that I need to know. I have a few goals in life and I couldn’t have been in a better place then City Tech to achieve it all. I want to make sure that when I am married someday and hopefully have kids that I wont have to struggle financially. Education is priceless and I am going to make sure that I leave a legacy here at City Tech. I want to be remembered for my hardworking ethics and hopefully i can inspire a few people along the road.

   Driving

Hi, my name is Rahat Ahmed and I’m 19 years old. I am currently a freshman here at City Tech and my major is Hospitality Management. I came to City Tech with a purpose and I am here to achieve it. My essay is going to be about something that I very much love to do which is driving. One thing that people should comprehend about driving is that there’s always a risk.
I can recall the first time I drove a car. My older brother told me that I should start learning how to drive, so he took me to a driving school and signed me up for driving lessons. I was really excited, because I always had a passion for driving and now I was actually going to drive a car. On the first day my instructor came to my house and picked me up in a Toyota Camry. Once I got into the car my instructor immediately gave me a brief lesson on how to apply the brakes, when to slow down and finally on how to press on the gas. I was itching to drive and I asked my instructor if I could drive today and to my surprise he said yes. I was very nervous at first but when I pressed on the gas pedal, I felt really confident that I could really do this. Once I got the hang of it, my instructor took me on the highway for the first time. I was a bit nervous but I had confidence in myself that I could pull this off. When you are driving on the highway it can be a bit tricky but the smart thing to do is to always  stay calm and not panic.
The time I got a ticket for making an illegal turn. At the point in time I was a relatively new driver who didn’t know much about the roads. This incident took place on the day I drove my friend to his graduation ceremony. On our way back I kind of got lost because I was still pretty much new on the road and had very little idea of how the roads really worked. I was at a four- way intersection  unsure whether to go straight or make a right turn, so I asked one of my friend who was in the back seat  if he might know. My friend told me to put on my right signal and wait for the cars to stop before I can go ahead and make my turn. I waited and when the time seemed right I made my turn and as I’m driving away I hear the police sirens, and I asked my friend if it was me who they were trying to pull over, my friend calmly replied “No” so I continued to drive away and as I’m driving away I heard the cop say “pull over” and only then I knew that I was in trouble. The officer approached my car and asked me if I knew what I did back there was wrong or not, and “I replied “I’m not sure what you mean officer”. The officer told me that the turn that I had made back there was illegal and that I held up traffic. I tried apologizing saying I didn’t see the sign, but the officer wrote me a $145 dollar ticket anyways and also took three points of my driver’s license. Driving can be very risky if you don’t know what you’re doing so always read all of the signs while driving and follow all of the rules and regulations as instructed.
I remember the first time I sped and luckily did not get caught. It was a very sunny pleasant day and I was on my way to Bear Mountain with a couple of my very close friends. We were having a blast in the car. We were all having a sing along, cracking jokes and just having a quality time together. In the moment of which I was speeding, I felt like my car was literally flying because I had all of my windows up and so I completely forgot how fast I was really going. When my friend pointed out to me that I was going a 105 mph on 50 mph road, I gradually started to slow down because I knew there were cops nearby. I reduced my speed to 65 mph and honestly I got mad at myself, because I felt like not only did I put my own life at risk, but my friends as well. There is a limit to having fun but you should never cross your boundaries because there’s always a risk to everything that you do.
I have been through so much with my car that me getting into an accident on the FDR drive wasn’t surprising to me at all. It was 9 am on a cloudy Friday morning. I was on my way to Queens to pick up my outfit that was being tailored. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to reach my destination without conflict. I was basically on the right lane and I was trying to switch to my middle lane which was moving at a better speed. Unfortunately while I was trying to move onto the middle lane there was a car that was also trying to switch to the middle lane from the far off left lane. In order to avoid collision, I tried to swiftly move back to the lane that I was originally in. As I was trying to get back into my lane this other car came at a rapid speed and crashed into my passenger side. The damage was kind of severe because my bumper had a huge dent which would cost me a fortune to get it fixed. Everything that you do has its own risks, so always be careful.
Even though I have been through so much stress with my car, I still love it. When I first told my dad that I wanted a car by this summer, I knew what I was getting myself into. I knew I had to worry about the insurance and gas. I was totally wrong about the insurance because I actually spent way more money on maintenance such as car wash, repairing and the covering of the two accidents that I got into so far. Despite of everything that I have been through so far, I do not regret a single thing because I believe everything happens for a reason regardless of how cruel it may seem. At first I was very angry with myself for getting into those accidents, but after awhile I realized that it was ok, Life goes on. I am still going to do what I have been doing. Since I got a car. Nothing has changed for me. The two accidents would always be in the back of my head but that won’t keep me off the roads. Every time I am on the road now, I am always extra careful. Your choices behind the wheel matter because there are a lot of crazy drivers out there that don’t pay enough attention to the road. Sometime it’s not your fault but you should always be careful because driving is very risky especially if you panic, so always watch your surroundings and drive cautiously. Despite everything, I personally love driving; it gives me a feeling like no other. As if I am truly free, being able to accelerate and decelerate at a very rapid rate. With great power, come greater responsibilities.
