“ Modern Workout Machines, Enhances Human’s Brains & Health “

Modern Technology is transforming the way human brains are now working. Especially when it comes to dealing with a natural and physical workout. It’s hard to believe, each exercise equipment has there own unique history. Fitness goes back to earliest start of when men started speeding while hunting. While many centuries have passed an increased of individuals have experienced with culture development. A fit life will balance out forming into a long and healthy life. Throughout the duration of time fitness equipment has been a major aspect to the change of modern technology.Gym machines have helped humans by decreasing and burning fat in a more quicker way to benefit their life style. Also people can also purchase on of these machines to enhance their daily routine at home.Modern fitness equipment are helping varies generations to shape their bodies.

According to the generation of 2015, we could function better with the modern technology. Most teens would prefer to use workout machine to push their bodies to  achieve their physical goals. This generation often takes advantage of technology throughout their daily day by texting, surfing the web for social media, research for homework, and using a the front camera of devices. Usually most teens attend the gym for the actual cardio machines instead of going out for a run or a walk on their own time. What I have notice is the older a gym member is the more often  they are likely to use the actual physical weights to work out. Teens now usually don’t remember their earliest memory of technology. Deven Mangal ,who is 18 is attending New York City College of Technology stated “ The earliest memory of technology is hearing the dial up tone when I was young and also having the leapfrog learning books.” His thoughts and feelings about technology hasn’t changed much but he also added “I believe that modern technology has impacted this generation by making them lazy in a form and way younger generations are becoming smarter. My little nieces and nephews who are 4 and 8 years old , they have their own tablets using them for games and learning purposes. ” Deven does attend the gym frequently. He can connect to the aspect of the new and advanced technology, which is also helping modern workout exercise machines to enhance the human brain.

Adults over the age of 45 are naturally athletic judging from their childhood .They don’t really need a work out machine to work out, nor they need a gym to work out. Lusiana Ferreira , which is 50 years old feels that today in the 21st century the youth should be way more physical than usual while getting to certain destinations such as work, school and back home. Lusiana says “ I prefer walking to work and back because I don’t have to count on public transportation to get me there on time. All I have to be dependent on are my own two legs “. Lusiana uses technology throughout her daily life by using her cellphone to communicate with her family and friends out of the United States, gossip on social media sites, games to kill time, and alarms to get her day started. Her first time using any type of technology was in her hometown Sabana Iglesia in the Dominican Republic. She used to go to her friends house to watch shows on a small T.V that didn’t contain color. Lusiana’s thoughts and feelings about technology only are basically positives towards the teens of this generation because the technology is helping the teens now rather than keeping the adults alive. Basically she thinks that technology is slowly killing adults. William Vargas which is 53 years old, expressed his feelings on the new and  advanced technology and how it has changed his daily life style. William says “ I’m a 53 year old man that doesn’t mean I have to depend on a machine to move my body “. William takes the train to work rather than driving to work. He says “ It’s way more better for to take the train because it’s less time consuming and i get to walk at the same time.William is learning each and everyday how to better communicate using the new technology with his family that live out of the United States. He uses phone calls, phone applications ,and social media to keep in contact with his family in the Dominican Republic. He also wakes up to his alarm in the mornings before heading to work. William Vargas really started using technology when he came to the United States . He joined a class in the year 1986 to learn about computers and its new functions. He came to have his first flip phone in the year 2007. He says “ it was a wonderful experience to actually be able to be caught up on the advancements of technology then but now in the year 2015 I’m lost than ever. Back in my days I had to wait 15 days to receive a letter, now I wait 15 seconds to receive a text message “ . Computers and other electronic devices have made human life better with commutation and other ways. Working out has become a negative outcome ,now we need a machine to move us.

All of the technology that we use up in our daily lives has got history of their creation. All exercise equipment has a history behind it. Gym equipment such as free weights were first practiced in the ancient times in Egypt, China, India and other cultures around the world. Free weights were onced used in the athletic training, using them as halteres. Halteres were used in the development of strengthening upper body muscular, they were also used for sport training such as the long jump. Cardiovascular Equipment are the the most popular exercise equipment located at the gym. They are the most used machines. When the treadmill was first introduced it wasn’t used for exercise purposes in the year 1875. In the early 1960s, finally the treadmills were distributed to the public to be used  in customers homes and personal gyms. Another common cardio machine is called the elliptical. Cardio machines located at the gym now have advanced information which is given to the member in front of the them while working out. Information such as their heart rate, calories burned,  miles, and laps. Common information is much needed to the member because they are used to getting that type of information while being on the machine.

Judging from the teens and the adults currently ,workout machines and the advanced technology of the 21st century has changed the human lifestyle throughout the duration of time. Work out machines have also made people lazy. They are naturally less active. When having a machine do almost everything to enable a person to lose a certain amount of weight it really makes the human body lazy. The way humans are living now is so much easier than the way the first humans on this earth did. Due to all the history made with gym equipment and how they have impacted to make human life, it’s has resulted to the society to have a healthy and longer life.

 Communication Design Management

My name is Angelica Vargas, a college freshman attending New York City College of Technology. I am majoring in Communication Design Management for my Bachelors of Technology. Now I’m reflecting on my major and also thinking ahead for myself in the future. I would prefer to enter a specific career field within my major. My major is filled with many unique features. It offers careers in the field such as advertising, publishing, web design and corporate communications. This is the best career for me because I have a great personality and I am great at socializing with new people and it also pays great. After graduating from City Tech with  a  Bachelors of Technology in Communication Design Management, I will obtain a career in the Graphic Design Advertising field. I would rather get a career that my degree offers when I graduate from City Tech. When I applied to colleges, I made sure to look for a school that offered my major, as I know I wanted to pursue my career in graphic advertisement. It was when I first joined the editing program in my high school, Academy for Careers and Television in Film. I immediately became interested in majoring in Communication Design Management. During my Junior year in Academy for Careers and Television in Film, students had to choose a program that we were most interested in. I picked the editing program. I enjoyed the editing program because it was so much work and everyone depended on the editor to tell the right story. With that experience I want to continue communication with people by advertising things in the media. This helped me makeup my mind in choosing my major in college. The School of Technology and design within New York City College of Technology, helps students learn from computer–based tools for design and modeling to real-world materials and production processes. The School of Technology and Design is well known for their unique programs such as Graphic Communications and Digital Media, Architecture and Computer-aided Design, Live Entertainment and Interactive Event Technology, Computing Software, Networking, Security and Data Management, Electronic Systems, Optical and Wireless Telecommunications, Robotics and Automation and Construction and Building systems. Faculty members working in this major represent a broad range of technology expertise, from basic hardware and software to systems integration for design and production. When students graduate from City Tech they will be well prepared to enter positions in certain industries.

The Bachelor of Technology in Communication design is located in the school of Technology and Design. It’s part of the Department of Communication Design formerly advertising design and graphic arts. Within this program students will gain the knowledge and skills that are necessary to function as productions managers who are responsible for monitoring and are good at processing images for delivery on a wide variety of print and electronic media. According to the City Tech Catalog 2015-2016 there are many ways to enter the bachelor program at City Tech. One way is entering as a high school graduate student if meeting the general college admissions criteria. The students that do this must follow the Communication Design Management AAS curriculum for the first 60 credits and may earn the AAS on there way. Another way to enter the bachelor program is to transfer within City Tech meeting the college criteria for the transfer admission.

One of the Reasons why I would follow my short-term goal in staying in the major of Communication Design Management is I love the experience so far within the field. It’s difficult in so many levels and challenging. The software’s such as Photoshop and Illustrator were introduced. Judging from a classroom setting it takes a lot of questioning and understanding to really understand the material. Who ever is the best and puts in the work that is expected will be the one who would be successful in the future. Professor with in this major will never stop to look for perfection in the projects. The Professor will push you to extent you can’t take it for the best. That encouragement is really needed.

In my high school, Academy for Careers and television in film. Within my Junior year Students had to pick a program they wanted to pursue in future careers. Programs such as Production design/hair and makeup, lighting/set building, editing, and director/script writing . I ended up choosing editing because I wasn’t a good actor and I wanted to be a person that everyone depended on to get the finished product. Me being in this program I learned how to deal with customers and also learned to always give them my best work .The editing program my school used was called final cut or final cut pro. This program was, challenging learning the basics of the program was difficult as it was my first time being exposed to such thing. Becoming a member of the editing program in Academy for Careers and television in film was the first step I took, that made me decide what I wanted to focus on during my education in college and what I’m doing now.

Another reason why I decided on choosing the Communication Design Management major was when I entered New York City College of Technology, is that during my 7th grade in I.S 125 my art teacher had so much hope in me. Having someone to support you will really get you far. I learned that with him because every time I used to fail he was the one that told me to keep trying to do it and make it better than the last time. I  would always get angry when he asked me to redo projects but now I am thankful and proud of myself. Knowing that he had hope in me and never thought less about my skills and abilities took my drawings to other levels. Going from 8th grade through 11th grade I used my sketch book as my drawing journal. For me it was a way to express my feelings without bad behaviors. Everything has changed since I entered college because the course are driving me crazy.

So far, being a college freshmen pursuing Communication Design Management has been a great experience for me to analyze my future goals and achievements within. The major at New York City College of Technology, Communication Design Management is a very competitive field for any student to study. I appreciate what all the professors have done for me. What I have learned so far in this field and in my college experience is to take advantage with all of the resources that are given to you. If you really want to achieve something, you have to be determined and never give up. There may be hardships that I will face throughout my four years in college, but it’ll be worth it in the end when I get my Bachelors in this field.

Volleyball During high school

My name is Angelica Vargas. I usually tell people to call me by the name childhood nickname, Angie. My friends from high school called me Angie they all thought that was my name. During high school I thought Angie was a much cooler name than Angelica ,plus it was way more easier to remember. Facing the “new world” (college )I realized I had start signing my full name. I knew in college no professor would take me serious if I used my nickname Angie, therefore I lost my childhood nickname and decided to become Angelica. It was time for a new beginning , new friends, a new academic life style, and more responsibilities. I’m currently attending the amazing college that goes by the name New York City College of Technology. My major is Communication Design Management. When I got accepted to City Tech I was a happy camper. I was the first one in my household to apply to a four year college, and got accepted. We all have something that catches our attention the first try. For me it was volleyball. Volleyball has played a big role in my life, it has made me stay in shape and has become a big stress reliever . Recently the sport has become important to me ,especially throughout my high school experience. I learned that working with a team really helps an individual gain self confidence. At first I had some regrets on joining the team because I didn’t take judgement very well. I’m a naturally athletic person. Judging by my past experience with sports, I have been in track and volleyball in high school. I was also in karate between the ages 7 and 16, I attended karate for almost 9 years. I quit due to the fact I had to focus on my studies and move on to bigger and better things. The better things that came my way was volleyball. Volleyball was an eye opener for me cause I saw many opportunities. I was getting better during the summer of 2014, which sucked because I didn’t really have the skills during my high school experience. When my mom was living in her hometown in Dominican Republic she was in a volleyball team. That’s one thing I’m very proud of ,I took my mothers steps in high school. Volleyball will continue to be in my life.
When I first entered Academy for Careers and Television in film , the high school was located in Astoria, Queens under I.S 204. Sadly the school only had possession to the basement. When my freshmen class entered we had completed the school with all four grades. We were the fourth gradation class (class of 2015) .During my sophomore year, my principal gathered all the students in the auditorium. He had a huge announcement. We were finally moving into another building .It sucked for the seniors that were graduating in 2013. They wouldn’t have the experience of moving into the building with the lower grades. The whole school moved within a year. I spent my junior and senior years in a beautiful building near the Long Island city piers, which had a beautiful view of the city. Unfortunately the school still had to share the building with two other schools, But this time we had two floors. Throughout my high school experience I had a lot of regrets about joining the school’s team. I didn’t expect my failures like a grown adult. I got angry at little things that happened. Just imagine how would I have reacted to games where I failed? I would have embarrassed myself infront of my team,my school, and especially my coach. Throughout my high school experience I learned how to overcome my failures. I also regret not joining the team earlier just because of the fact I could have taken advantage of those four years on the team.Let’s say I started the volleyball team during my freshman year ; I would have been team captain by my senior year .I would have also had the advantage of getting multiple scholarships from colleges out of state.I lacked on my social skills on making the right friends.During my freshman year, I attended all of the school’s volleyball games. To get a sense of how they played.Meeting the right people in high school is very difficult. My Friends were the type to easily slack and go off to smoke weed and drink after school hours. Being with the bad crew of friends really labeled me when it come to first impressions in the classroom with my teacher. The volleyball coach was the physical education teacher. In my gym class freshman year I never got prepared. It was easy to get prepared because I only had to bring sneakers. Having friends that were under the influence, was very tempting. They always wanted things to go there way. If you can’t tell already I used to be a follower which got me nowhere. I’m actually proud of my high school experience it shaped me to be the person that I am today.

When I first realized I was interested in joining my high school’s volleyball team it was around the summer of 2014. My family had planned a BBQ  at sunken meadow beach in Long Island. We were all enjoying ourselves. When the afternoon was slowly approaching we decided it would be a fun activity if the whole family would play volleyball together. My father saw that strangely I wasn’t playing with my family. I knew If I would have played at first, my family would have asked me so many questions about volleyball. It would obviously be all good things but I didn’t want to be encouraged to be in volleyball team anytime soon.At the beach, My family kept asking me questions about what I wanted to do after I graduate high school. These questions were so difficult to answer when I was 16 . Eventually I got up to play and saw I was doing better than before the last time I played. What really made me change my mind was, that I was the main player who was helping my team to win. My team was winning mainly because of my serves. I felt I was worth being in a team finally. Luckily nobody convinced me into joining that day. I saw hope in myself to be the best that I can be that day. I knew senior year for me would be hardest, because I didn’t pass my global regents .My goal was to pass the global regents in first semester of my senior year. Unfortunately I didn’t, I failed the global regents once again by one point.I didn’t want to join volleyball cause I thought I was going to get a class on global. I got a short tutoring session with two other students. When ever I had the chance in summer 2014 I practiced. I literally practiced everywhere you can think off ( outside ).The park, beach, piers, backyards, front yards, and dangerously on top of my roof. My father supported me while I was practicing. He took me to flushing meadow park to play with me. It took skills .It was a great workout for both of us .Yes I used to be go practice on my building’s rooftop. When I used to go off and practice on top of my rooftop ,I usually was stressed out. It was a challenge at first. It was a learning experience. I was testing out my skills of controlling the ball. What I did was I threw the ball up and I bumped it with my forearm. I kept bumping it until I couldn’t anymore .If the ball would have fell  down to the ground. I would have gotten it and ran back up to my position and start all over again. That barely happened though. To be able to play at a rooftop you have to be aware on the amount of space you have. It’s exactly the same way when you are on a volleyball court. You have to be aware with the back lines ,and sidelines ,because if the ball goes out then you will be giving the other team points. My friends and cousins helped me with my progress. Im really greatfull for the people who supported me in the summer and within the fall semester of senior year.

My mother is an immigrant from the Dominican Republic. She came here due to the fact she wanted a better lifestyle for her future and her family. I remember my mom telling my sister about her past experiences during her education life style in the Dominican Republic. My sister also was involved with volleyball in middle school. She should have continue her path into volleyball in high school. Anywho my mom was a real inspiration to me cause I wanted to be just like her. According to what my mom has told me , she was very skilled .She used math to win her games. I can’t really explain because I still don’t get it. She tried to teach me her ways within the summer, but I still didn’t get it. My father on the other hand is also from the Dominican Republic. His older uncle bought his brothers and sister over to new york to better their lives. My father and I have special bond .Ever since I told him I wanted to quit karate he was very disappointed, because he didn’t raise no loser. My father always told me “quitters never prosper”. So when I made the decision on giving up on karate and joining my high school’s volleyball team, at first he wasn’t supportive. He learned how to expect my choice because it was my life. My dad decided to help me by practicing with me and also by working out with me. When It started getting cold we went to the gym to practice. It was 5 days and 3 hours during the week in the gym. Mostly doing weights and playing volleyball in the gym.I really appreciate my parents for supporting me when I needed them the most in my life.

Volleyball has changed my life. The sport has helped me in many ways, such as controlling my anger and stress. Also the sport has prepared me for the real world in accepting my failures. Failures such as getting multiple volleyballs thrown at me to learn and lesson, giving the other team points because of my bad serves within games, and hearing girls judging me on my team. A team is about helping others out in order to bring out the best out of a person. In my high school the girls didn’t follow that rule. They were very judgmental and worried about themselves. I tired to be focused on myself and becoming better then them. That just made thing worst. I never seen volleyball as a competition, I have always seen it as a motivator. It has helped with a lot of my struggles throughout my life.Volleyball will forever continue being my one true love in my life.=
