Extra Credit

Extra Credit Opportunity

+2 point on your final grade

Find an article in a newspaper or magazine that discusses something about the human brain or the neurosciences.

Deliver a 5-minute presentation evaluating the articleā€™s persuasive strategies (think back to our early lectures) and teaching what you have learned in the article to the class. You might have to read in other sources to understand everything that you read and present to the class. If so, you should cite that material in your written speech.

These are due when you give your presentation to receive the extra credit:

  • A printed, 2-page, double-spaced essay that you will read aloud to the class. In order to create a full-five minute presentation, your essay must be at least two-pages long. The third page will be your Works Cited page. Your essay should contain properly cited quotes taken from the article.
  • A PowerPoint visual presentation that you show during your presentation. It should contain words and images. If you use images that you find online, you must include a link to the image at the bottom of the slide with that image embedded to give credit to the source of your image.
