Hi and welcome to our page.
Mission- To help students understand how to commence the process of creating a club and to succeed.
Starting a new academic club is a great way for college students to forge friendships over common interests. Being a school-sanctioned group also has numerous benefits, including the ability to advertise, recruit members and participate in school events. Creating an official college club, however, requires you to follow many rules and procedures including having a faculty sponsor, submitting a proposal, and demonstrating significant interest from students.
Stating Your Club’s Case
Many Universities or Colleges require students to submit a formal proposal as part of their application. This can include a description of the group’s goals, events they plan to hold, where and when meetings will take place and who can get involved. Before you apply to become an official school club, you should discuss these questions thoroughly with your group so you can provide professional, detailed responses. You may even take time to form your group, discuss what you’d like to see the club accomplish and make informal plans for the school year.
Ordaining the Constitution
As part of a club proposal, colleges require you to submit a constitution that states the club’s purposes, rules, meeting times, locations, and responsibilities of officers. It may also include club activities, procedures for amending the constitution and financial regulations like methods of fundraising. When composing a draft of your constitution, keep it short and simple. Only include information about the organization’s objectives, leaders and how it should be fun. Long and overly detailed constitutions can make managing your club confusing and difficult rather than providing basic guidelines.
Potential Participation
Many college activities department require significant student interest in order to make your club an official organization. Some colleges require a specific amount of members in order for your club to be considered. Create a Facebook page for your group, make information cards to hand out in class or put up flyers in businesses related to your club’s theme such as bakeries or grocery stores for a cooking club. You can also hold special events to increase student interest. If you want to start a ballroom dance club, for example, stage a performance after school and serve refreshments for the audience. College campuses have a numerous amount of students all with different interests and hobbies, a club is where those with similar interest can get together and create friendships that last past their college careers.
