After deciding which English Handbook, based on the following options, you will be using for this course:
- a print handbook that you already own,
- Professor Rodgers’ Open Access English Handbook
- The Norton Handbook Online
- The Purdue OWL
- Good Writing Made Simple
- Keys for Writers
- The Bedford Handbook
- The MLA Handbook (8th Edition)
please reply to this BLOG POST by explaining which English Handbook you will be using for this course and why you chose the one–or the ones–you did.
The English Handbook I am going to use is ” Prentice Hall HANDBOOK FOR WRITERS TENTH EDITION”.
The reason I am going to use this handbook is because I asked my parent if I may use it for this semester and that I wouldn’t have to give myself a hard time looking/buying an English Handbook.
Thanks for letting us know! It sounds like a great choice.
The English Handbook I am going to be using is ” THE MLA Handbook (8th Edition)
The reason why I choose this was because
1) It easier to access on my phone
2) I would like to know more about MLA format and who makes the rules of writing
Thanks! Those are both interesting and important reasons! Did you end up purchasing the ebook edition of the MLA handbook?
The English Handbook that I’m going to be using for the course is “The MLA Handbook (8th Edition)” because it’s the cheaper I can find . lol
I will be using, “Good Writing Made Simple”, as my English handbook for this course because my friend let me borrow his copy.
I will be using this handbook too“Good Writing Made Simple” because it taylored to city tech students.
I will be using “Good Writing Made Simple”. Reason to use this handbook is because my friend gave it to me for free.
Thanks, Mohammed! Now that you have the handbook, I’d like you to look up what the handbook says about subjects, verbs, and objects in complete sentences. Your second statement is not a complete sentence in Standard Written English. Do you know why? Do you know how to re-write it to make it a complete sentence? p.s. I usually do not bring up sentence boundary issues with students this early in the semester. However, since the subject of our discussion is English Handbooks, it seemed like a topical one ;).
I will be using “Good Writing Made Simple” because it is written for City Tech students.
:)
I’m choosing Professor Rodgers’ Open Access book and the Norton Handbook because I like things that I can easily access on my computer, since I’m on it more often than not. Not only that but Professor Rodgers’ book may be help because I’d be seeing her definitions/meanings to writing tools
:)
The handbook that I will be using is “The GPS for Writing.” I chose this because it was what my sister used in her English course when she was in college.
Thanks! This book was also written specifically for City Tech students, so I’ll be very interested to learn more about it and to hear more about your experience using it.
I will be using the Norton Handbook online since it is accessible on my laptop.
:)
The English Handbook I chose is THE MLA Handbook (8th Edition) because I want to know more about the MLA format, I think it would be helpful for my writing.
:)
The English handbook that I chose is the MLA Handbook. I chose this handbook because my friend took this course last semester and gave me the book.
:)
I choose “good writing made simple” because it seems easier to use
Thanks!
The handbook I will be using is “Good Writing Made Simple” because my last English teacher recommended it to me for extra help on my grammar. I also used it last semester at my English workshops which helped so much!
Great!
My English handbook is the MLA. Because I have no idea about MLA regulations. The last class was the first time that I hear about The Modern Language Association.
Thanks!
I chose to use the second book because it’s one used by the professor so most likely, the material would refer the material in the open access handbook.
