Recently my fiancé and I went to a Venezuelan restaurant called Arepas Café. They had an assortment of different arepas stuffed with numerous fillings. The picture shows the two arepas I had, 1-Reina which was shredded chicken, mixed with avocados and mayo. the second one was Carne Mechada, it was stuffed with shredded beef, and white cheese. The food here was delicious and we have since been back numerous times.

On our tour to Jackson Heights, Professor got us all Colombian bunuelos. I have never had one before but these are the perfect combination of crisp and fluffy. The outside seemed to have just been fried and in the process the inside was steamy and soft. They were delicious and I could have definitely eaten a bags worth.

The other day I went to a Japanese restaurant for my friends birthday. As you all may know I dont eat seafood, but….. She made me try the rock shrimp. It was delicious! The way it was fried, and glazed all worked together so well. I will definitely try it again in different restaurants.

Sweet pork buns

Tuesday afternoon I went to a dumpling place near our school (Golden Fried Dumpling) and ordered my usual pork and chive dumplings, and decided to try something new so I got the sweet pork bun. When I got home after the train ride I bit into it and it was probably one of the most delicious things I’ve eaten. The surrounding dough was sweet, and the middle was warm and savory which made the combination of the two incredible. The pork seemed to have been cooked for hours because it melted in my mouth when I took a bite. Needless to say I will definitely be going back.

Chicken Satay

Last night my fiancée and I went to a Thai restaurant, and for the first time I tried chicken satay. Although it just looks like grilled chicken on a stick, it was seasoned with turmeric and curry powder. To accompany it was a side of peanut sauce and a citrus vinaigrette. The chicken was grilled perfect and was still juicy inside, and the seasonings gave you just enough kick. The onlyr thing I was not too fond of was the peanut sauce which tasted just like peanut butter and was too thick.
