In recent years, we have seen an overwhelming number of TV commercials that promise that the Cloud can help with many problems, including some family issues. What stands behind the terms “Cloud” and “Cloud Computing,” and what we can actually expect from this phenomenon? A group of students of the Computer Systems Technology department and Dr. T. Malyuta, whom has been working with the Cloud technologies since its early days, will provide an overview of the business and technological aspects of the Cloud.

About the Presenters

  • Spenser Lin focuses on networking, security, and databases. Currently he is working for a Cisco partner as a network engineer.
  • Heriberto Martines focuses on networking, security, and databases. Currently he is working as a Department of Education computer service technician providing remote assistance and technical support to all schools and central offices throughout Brooklyn.
  • Kasim Mothana focuses on networking and security and works as a field support representative for a defense contractor. He holds the following certifications: Security+, CEH (Certified ethical hacker), CISSP (Certified information systems security professional), CCDP (Cisco certified design professional), and CCNP (Cisco certified networking professional).
  • Christian Ozoria focuses on networking, security, and databases. Currently he is working as a network technician for DGA Security Systems.
  • Dr. T. Malyuta received her master’s Degree in Applied Mathematics and her PhD in Computer Science from the State University, Lviv, Ukraine. Professor Malyuta has over twenty five years experience in programming and database design, design of the Cloud data stores, and data integration. Her research interests are data models, data design, database technologies, Cloud data stores, and ontologies. She has been teaching at Computer Systems Technology Department of the NYCCT since 2000.
