J Cole is my favorite rapper. This song “Kenny Lofton” is about a black retired baseball player named Kenny Lofton. However Lofton is not the focal point of the song. He is used as an example for the message J Cole wants to convey. Cole raps about how successful black musicians and athletes are loved when they are at the peak of their careers because of the entertainment they provide with their talents, however they are not loved for who they are at times. The bat, the basketball, the microphone and the money bag are some of the things Cole raps in the song.
