Attached are all the Phases of the project:

The first step was to visit a Museums online Site and pick a piece that really caught your attention from the Museums gallery. I picked this piece called “Separation” by Elizabeth Catlett in the year 1954.

The next step was to decompose our drawings into different shapes and lines. As much as possible!

It was kind of difficult to decompose the drawing but it was fun!

The next step was to create many different thumbnails that contained only the decomposed shapes and lines and just be creative and have fun with them.

I honestly got so carried away I did more than 20 with was the Maximum lol! But most of them were very symmetrical which was not what we were supposed to go for.

The final step was to choose your favorite thumbnail, add some details if needed and and develop it in the 9×12 inch sketchbook

I have not been able to purchase the gouache paint so I used different black markers 🙁

Overall, this was a very interesting and fun project! I would’ve never thought this was going to be the outcome of it when Prof. Alvarez was explaining it in class. I love the concept of decomposing stuff and creating something totally beautiful and new out of its different pieces!
