Hello, my name is Camille Gordon, I am currently a senior student at New York City College of Technology. Human Services is my major and I will be graduating with my Bachelors’ Degree in Human Services.

My passion has always been to help people. I always go out of my way to see that my family, friends and people who I come into contact with. When people go through problems I feel that I must do whatever I can to assist them. That is why I chose the field of Human Services so I can advocate for the people who need help.

After graduation, the population that I am interested in working with is Domestic Violence (DV) victims and survivors. The DV population is vulnerable and are unaware of their situation and afraid to get help.  I would like to help these survivors to claim their life back and become self-sufficient without their perpetrators.  Currently, there is no cure for Domestic Violence and education is a very important tool.  Victims are dying at an alarming rate and our children are affected. Brooklyn was reported having the most domestic violence cases than any other borough in 2012, the police responded to 263, 207 incidents; in 2013, the number of reported domestic incidents was 280,530 (www.nyc.gov.org). Domestic Violence is a major issue in the nation and there is a need for many Human Service Professionals to assist.
