Recently, I visited several bakeries in Brooklyn in search for turnovers for my Baking and Pasty Arts term paper. I was all in, and why would I be? I get to eat pastries and report my thoughts on said pastries…… Which means any calories and or weight gained during this time DO NOT COUNT! YIPPEE
I tried several different shops looking for the elusive perfect apple turnover. I encountered soggy, uncooked and even some where that the baker forgot to fill. Then I wondered into this place on Court Street. The first time I went, they were sold out, at 9am they open at 7. After speaking with the clerk, she suggested I either get there am opening or place an order, for at least 3 and they would hold them for me. I was a bit skeptical, but decided to place and order for 3 apple turnovers to be pickup the next day. Boy or boy was I happy that I place my order. Unlike the others I tried, the filling was soft more like a purée, but was think enough that it did not make the dough soggy. It was flaky, sweet, a little tart but oh soo good. I’ve return everyday since.

Lights, Camera, Action!
Today at work, we had a film crew on site for most of the day. Apparently, the company has been making waves in Brooklyn Film Making industry and is going to be featured in an upcoming documentary. Yippee!
It is really exciting to be chosen from among all the cleaners in Brooklyn for this honor. In a sense it serves as a form of validation, that we are moving in the right direction.
Welcome to Brooklyn!
- While I am not originally from Brooklyn (or the USA for that matter), since moving here many years ago, I consider Brooklyn the place to be if I can’t be at home. I enjoy welcoming folks to my little borough from wherever their coming from.
Recently, I had the pleasure of welcoming Silva, a native of Brazil who move to our borough from Manhattan. After welcoming here to the best cleaners in NYC :), she asked where I was from, St Vincent and the Grenadines (apparently I have an accent), then proceed to tell me she from Brazil, her Husbands from Italy and their kids were born here in NYC. They moved here two years ago, and after running out of space in Manhattan with two growing kids they made they move to Brooklyn. She loves its here and can’t imagine moving back to the city.
I gave Silva a rundown of where the parks, and other kid friendly activities are held in and around her area and of course all the best places to eat in Downtown Brooklyn.
Welcome to Brooklyn Silva!
Quality Customer Service
I am sometimes amazed at the level of service and the range of service I receive when visiting businesses, be it in the public or private sector. As a Hospitality Management Student, I am always mindful of the service I give at my workplace, at church or even when conducting business at some to these establishments, and also of the service I receive.
I have left several restaurants, some before I place my order and other after I have place my order because of my perception of unacceptable service. I am aware that service representative might be having a had day or they might have other things that they are dealing with but I do not see this as an excuse to horrible service
Welcome!
