A02 Site Maps

Main deliverables:

  1. Site Maps (3 scales: 1β€³ to 16β€², 1β€³ to 300β€², 1β€³ to 300,000β€²) [uploaded]
  2. Geometrical analysis or Structural Grid @ 1/4”=1’-0” scale [draft for class]
  3. Roof Floor Plan @ 1/4”=1’-0” scale [draft for class]
  4. New layers, 2min (in AutoCAD file)
  5. Reading assignment (take notes in your sketchbook (classbook or sketchbook or notebook)

[Please note some sections class using different sight scales]

Auto CAD drawings must contain:

  • Updated title block
    • include in your unique logo
    • include the class time, number, section, and instructor
  • North arrow
  • Graphic scale (for each unique scale)
  • Dimensions for structural grid

Site maps to include the following:

  • Scale
  • Latitude and longitude coordinates of case study building
  • Case study building outlined/highlighted
  • Major urban features diagramed
  • Case study building outlined/highlighted
  • Major urban features diagramed
  • Roof plan

Geometrical analysis or Structural Grid @ 1/4”=1’-0”
(Rough metric equivalent 1:50)

  • this drawing should include column lines
  • utilize layers with the S- (for structural) prefix
  • prepare a draft of this drawing for class

Roof Floor Plan @ 1/4”=1’-0”
(Rough imperial equivalent 1:50)

  • this drawing should include;
    • parapet walls,
    • trellis, chimneys,
    • roof drains,
    • and slope indicator lines.
  • utilize layers with the A- (for architecture) prefix
  • utilize layers with the S- (for structural) prefix

2 (min) New layers (As part of AutoCAD file):

  • use β€œUS national CAD standard” common naming standards
  • make sure you have at least one-layer line weight
  • make sure you have layers for long – short – and – lines
  • use CAPITAL letters only
  • start with S or A prefix (for architecture or structural disciplines)
  • keep the layers β€œ0” and Defpoints as they required by the software
  • prefix code X not use layers
  • you may keep the prefix β€œTitle” for title block information

Submittal:

  • Upload your AutoCAD file using the e- transmit format
  • Name files using the following naming convention:
    • Course number semester/year_Professor initials Project Name Student Name (file number)
    • For example: ARCH2331_ SP24_AA_A01Logo_BFuller (01)
    • files not conforming to department standards may not be graded.

Recommended:

  • Complete all of your plans
  • Create an analytical plan site diagram on your plans showing the angles photographs of the project indicating where the photographs were taken from, add these photographs to this reference plan.
