Where to look for Internships
LifeSci NYC
The New York City Economic Development Corporation has partnered with local businesses in biotechnology to provide a centralized point to link businesses and students to offer Internships associated with the life sciences called LifeSciNYC (https://lifesci.nyc/lifesci-nyc-internship-program). This is an excellent place to search for local businesses that may offer opportunities of interest for our students. The general application process places your documents into a pool, but students should tailor their applications to specific companies/sites within the network for better consideration and placement.
DOHMH-HRTP
The New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) offers a program to place student interns to their number of offices through the HRTP:
A Public Health Internship Program at the NYC Health Department (https://www1.nyc.gov/site/doh/about/employment/hrtp-internship.page). Students who apply tot ht eHRTP should tailor their personal statements to express their interests in specific offices housed by the DOHMH. This requires students to explore different divisions and departments of the DOHMH to customize their statements for better placement.
