Internship Blog Entries

As my internship at the New York City College of Technology continues to unfold, the pace quickens, and each day brings new insights and challenges. In our recent meeting, my fellow interns talked about outreach opportunities. The goal: to make the platform we’re working on accessible and promote it to students in a way that genuinely benefits them.

The discussions were lively and filled with creative ideas. We brainstormed a variety of ways to amplify the platform’s presence among students, all with the aim of providing valuable resources and support. For example:

1. The School’s New Newspaper: One exciting prospect that emerged was collaborating with the student-run school newspaper. We saw this as an opportunity to promote our platform and make it a household name among students. The newspaper, being a hub for school news and events, could serve as an excellent medium to spread the word and spark interest.

2. Rebranding “The Buzz”: “The Buzz,” an existing blogging site for students, offered a unique chance for rebranding. By giving it a fresh look and a new purpose, we envisioned transforming it into a dynamic space that students could actively engage with. This could be a fantastic platform to connect with the student community and encourage their participation.

3. OpenLab YouTube Channel: The power of video as a medium for tutorials and engagement cannot be understated. We discussed the idea of contributing to the OpenLab YouTube channel, where we could post tutorials, guides, and engaging content. This could be an effective way to reach students in a format they’re accustomed to and find engaging.

4. Task at Hand: Amidst all these exciting discussions, we also had our work cut out for the week. Our task was to complete our OpenLab ePortfolios. It’s an opportunity to showcase our work, our journey, and the skills we’re acquiring during this internship. I’m looking forward to assembling mine and sharing it with my colleagues.

The meeting left me with a sense of optimism and energy. It’s amazing to see how our collective efforts are geared towards enriching the experience of City Tech students.

As I reflect on this meeting, I’m reminded of the core purpose of our internship: to learn, grow, and actively contribute to the betterment of our college community.
