This is a collection of supplementary material and design activities that are related to the themes that we’ll be studying in History of Graphic Design.
For the design activities, be sure to be able to log in to your CUNY library account to access the reference material. Design activities are ways for students to experiment with the design process and consider how history has impacted visual culture.
For the supplementary materials, you should register for a student account through video streaming platform Kanopy and with the New York Times to access all of the material. These documentaries and exhibit materials will guide students through thinking, speaking and writing about the ways that graphic design impacts our daily life, and will help them explore the cultural and social contexts that shape design decisions.
