Photography and Tragedy Response

Before even reading the article, I thought to myself what I would think if someone just photographed me during a personal moment. I thought that it would only be acceptable for this to happen if the photographer has or gets consent from the person being photographed. Without this consent, it would be inappropriate. However, I also think that photographing moments like this is important. It is a way to document the things that have happened and to share it to people across the country who can’t fly over to see whats happening. After reading the article, I noticed that Aline Marie, the subject of the photograph, had similar thoughts. I think it was smart, the way she acknowledged the photo, because she didn’t do it from a place of anger. All she wanted was to be respected. If the photo journalist would have came up to her after the photo was taken, Aline Marie could have given him a bit of her back story. As the article pointed out, this photo could have been more meaningful to her, instead of making her feel like a zoo animal.
