One of the main project of my Community Health Nursing class was to conduct a Familiarization assessment or Windshield Survey which involves studying data regarding the community with a particular focus on public health. This type of activity encompasses looking at the community resources: physical, economic, services, or social resources. After gathering information about the community of Bensonhurst, Brooklyn and conducting an assessment of the strengths and weaknesses of the community, I developed a set of proposal of evidence-based recommendations that can be carried out by a community health nurse.
