LL5 – Juan Losada

This are the two photos I liked the most. The first one had the light coming from the top. It gives this cool gradient that really enhances the photo. The position of the skull does not make it look scary at all it looks like if the skull was smiling and having a good time.  I also like the reflection created by it. The second one is a scary one. Right for a Halloween mood. The side light makes it look more dramatic and makes a part of the skull fade into the dark. Not knowing what is in the back. That helps set the scary mood.

DYI Studio- Juan Losada

I decided to make my own mini studio. I used a box 14 x 12 x 12. The size is pretty good I have good space to work with. Im thinking of getting more boxes of different sizes to work. I used tracing paper for the box. I will buy some different colored backgrounds for future shoots.

I chose this street photograph as my candid because of the way the back light creates a rim light around the officer’s head. Also, there is a shallow depth of field which give the composition a better look. The background is nicely blurred out as the subject remain in focus.Another thing i like about this photograph is the nice silhouette figure in the left corner of the frame. When taking this shot, i was nervous that she would see me and stop me for it. I had to be sneaky so as i saw her playing with her phone, I took the opportunity to capture the shot quickly but steadily. This was taken along 42nd street.

These are the two photos I selected. The First one is very bright and happy using the skeletons sitting on candy corn with their hands held high. The lack of harsh shadows help in setting the mood of the shot. My group used the reflector to fill in the most of the shadows. The second photo gives off a completely different vibe. The side lit mask fading into black is very dramatic. It’s almost as if someone is on the other side of the mask watching you. 10559358693_2fb26a8e28

LL6-Contrast

Post your two best shots from today’s toy shoot, one that represents a happy childhood and that represents a bad childhood. How did your use of contrast contribute to the mood of the two photographs? What else helped your photographs communicate their intended meaning?

LL2 Outdoor Portraits

I chose this photography as my best because the light fill from using the reflector gave the subject’s face a nice soft glow. At the same time, there is a very nice shallow depth of field with the background blurred out and the subject is well focused.

I like this two photos by my group work, because the white happy mood photo with the skull hands up is totally opposite to the photo on the right which the dark death mood of a skull head hangs up on the pumkin, one is very foolish and bright, other is dark and creepy。the composition of the first one is on the center and brightlight, the second one is rule of third and sidelight 。

I bought this set of photo studio kit. It has white nylon fabric square tent avoids reflection for clean and color consistent images. This translucent fabric gently diffuse the light from the light source and prevent shadows. Also, It came with 4 color background. It had two yellow warm light with flexible stander and even and camera stand.

I noticed that some of my classmates bought the photo studio rather than making it. So, I decided to do some research and compare prizes from different websites. I ended up buying one from eBay from just $38. One of the reasons of why I didn’t do it myself is because I live in a very small studio and I have a lot of things and not enough space for one more thing, so with this one that I ordered I can fold it into itself and I won’t occupy a big space. The studio I bought is the Photo Studio 24″ Photography Light Tent Backdrop Kit 60cm Cube Lighting In A Box. It includes: A 24″ soft light tent, 4 high-quality backgrounds, 2 light stand 50W BULBS, one camera tripod stand, and 2 GU10 120V 50W BULBS. I think it’s a good price for everything it contains. Im very excited to start using it. 🙂JGG1440_01
