Irving Penn, On Assignment

Irving i think focused on beauty and the expressions made by people. he had a lot of black and white and zoomed in shots. Most of the people that were photographed looked pretty unhappy and it seemed that more of the focus was on the clothing. i preferred the colored photos to the black and white

Nick Brandt “ACROSS THE RAVAGED LAND”

This was really interested and caught my eye. i am not a fan of black and white, and a lot of these were but the subject matter was great. the shots of the elephants were great. the shots of the man holding the tusks was amazing. it really showed in perspective how huge these animals can be. It also made me understand better what the ravaged land is and how it got it’s name.

Didier Massard, “L’Atlas Imaginaire”

This is right up my ally. I love environments and 3D modeling so this clicked with me. his work is very well done and high quality. He captures different landscapes perfectly and populates them with foliage in just the right way. I think the strongest work was the work with grass and water. his ice work just didn’t feel as realistic as the rest and i could tell it was made in a studio. overall though i have to say this was my favorite of the day
