When we went to Brooklyn Bridge Park to shoot portraits of one another it felt we going back to basics with an extra flavor that allowed our shots to become versatile. Using reflectors we were able to bounce or direct light onto our subjects without being obtrusive. At times the sunlight was a bit extreme on the face and was more a struggle then a compliment for our subjects. With that being said the reflectors were a great help detailing facial features and giving texture to hair and other sensitive aspects. Using shallow depth of field the background becomes a blur and no shadows revealed in the light the portrait becomes more effective and life like compared to a light-controlled studio.
