In Spring 2019 two senior students, two of my classmates from the evening group and I participated at Graduate Center Wellness Health Fair dental screening. Under the supervision of Professor Haynes, RDH, MPH we screened 70 participants at the fair that day. I personally screened about 20 to 25 participants. Most of the participants were CUNY students, faculty and staff. We started the screenings with an extraoral and intraoral examination followed by dental hygiene instruction and recommendations according to individuals’ needs. At the end of the screening, I provided each participant with the NYC dental clinic list, a coupon for the complimentary dental hygiene service at NYCCT’s clinic, and a goody bag. I explained to the patients the benefit of biannual dental hygiene care that would improve their oral health and invited them to our dental clinic, therefore, promoted the public awareness of the services that we provide at NYCCT.
