A day at the park in Mid March taken by Omar Bessent 3/16/2014

A park in Brooklyn in Mid March. Taken by Omar Bessent

This photo was taken at a park located in the East Newyork part of Brooklyn. The dominate impression is a semi sunny day at an empty park. The trees are bare and the grass is dead and brown. The stadium is there seems to be no children playing in the park with the exception of on child running in the very far background. The punctum is the weather could be the reason the park is empty. Also the season and temperature could be factors as to why the trees are bare and the grass dead and brown. The reality effect that its hard to truly tell the climate of that day and why the park is empty. The frame is the bottom left and right is the concrete of the play area. The left side a part of a black gate and the left top is a tall apartment building. The wall with graffiti is the right top and right side is the yellow play area. The profilmic event looks to have been a slow day with little outdoor activity in that area.

A Day In The Yankee Stadium

20130905_191127

This photo of the Yankee Stadium was taken on September 4, 2013. It’s located at 161st Bronx, NY. I’m standing on the North East of the stadium Gate 8, which is the other side of the stadium dimension next to the center field. The studium in my photo is the green lawn and the lines parallel in the front and in the right side there are perpendicular lines. There are flags on top of the stadium. I could see the seat arraignment in blue. There are some players on the field. The image is bright meaning it’s early. On my left side there is a sign that says Mohegan Sun Sports Bar colored in blue. The dominant impression in the photo is happiness, excitement because of the way the people are carefully observing. The reality effect is knowing that the stadium does exist and the fact there are a lot of people in the stadium. The pro filmic event is the Yankee’s and the Chicago White Sox are playing and they are running to the base.In the right side there is a player trying to catch the baseball. The frame in the bottom are people watching the game and some head’s are cut off. In the right side of the frame there is the stadium seats where people could watch the game. The top of the frame there is the sky and several flags. Lastly on my left side there is a sign Mohegan Sun Sports Bar which is another section of the stadium.

Franklin Ave. Flushing

IMG_0057

This photograph was taken on March 18, 2014. I was going home with my girlfriend after work. It’s was six o’clock, and the sun was going down. Roads were become dark and unclear. Suddenly, the sky was very light and beautiful, so I grabbed my phone and took a photo on Franklin Avenue. Because I was so tired, and the sky in the back was light, so this gave me an another concept, which is “hope”. The light let me feel I have hope in the future, like I will doing well after I finish the job. The top frame has a really big meaning for myself. That day was so busy in my store as a milk tea shop at Main Street Flushing. After I saw this scene, I said “Fighting” to myself, and it worked because I felt much better on the way to home.

Manhattan Night View on the Ride

I took this picture with my camera while riding an N train across Manhattan Bridge last weekend on March 16, 2014. It was around 7 p.m., so the City was already well illuminated. The studium of the photo is the reflection of the interior of the train car, the blurred reflection of my hand holding the camera, part of the East River between Manhattan and Brooklyn, part of the Brooklyn Bridge, Manhattan Downtown skyscrapers, the Manhattan Bridge’s handrails and the night sky. Also, in the background, we can see part of New Jersey coast line. The punctum of the picture is the reflection of the train carriage interior overlapping the view of the night Manhattan. It creates some unrealistic, Photoshop looking effect. The dominant impression from the photo is a bit moody and tense due to the reflection of the steel interior of the train carriage lit by the cold, intense light from the ceiling  contrasting with the soft glow of the Brooklyn Bridge and the skyscrapers. If it wasn’t for that reflection, the picture would look rather relaxing and appeasing.  The right frame of the picture cuts off the reflection of the train carriage door. The left frame cuts off the sky, part of the Brooklyn Bridge, East River water and the handrails. The top frame cuts off the sky and the reflection of the train carriage ceiling. The bottom frame cuts off the reflection of the carriage doors and the  part of the bridge below the handrails.

Brooklyn View

photo

Brian Kriczky

This photograph was taken from the seventh floor of my dorm room on March 14, 2014. The main aspect that caught my eye of this photograph is the afternoon sun near the center right edge. The light pans over the buildings giving a warm glow while still casting shadows over the landscape. The sun almost makes the edges of the far buildings glow while the sun sets. Although the sunlight and brown colors can give a feeling of warmth, the dominate impression I had from the photograph was cool and calm. the air was a bit cooler which can be seen from the vapor effect that is coming out of the air vent atop the building across the street. It can be observed that it is a cooler season in that the trees do not have many leaves on them. The top right edge of the photograph show that the sky is clear, which can also been seen from the reflection of the windows from the building the runs along the left edge. The building on this edge has a reflection from the window I was behind when this photograph was captured. I feel a strong reality effect from this photograph in the way the sun is portraid and as it cast shadows and reflections on the buildings. Seeing my own window reflection was a good addition to the photograph in that even though the photograph is looking over buildings, I myself am inside of a building when it was taken. Seeing the sunset over these buildings provided a great opportunity for a picture.

Mysterious Cave

IMG_20130505_111736

This photo was taken on December 20,2013 at 11:17am. It’s located on 3 Farrell Street, Manorville on a place called Shrine of Our Lady of the Island. This picture means a lot to me because it has a religious meaning to it. The studium is clear to see there is a tree trunk in the middle of the picture. In the back of the trunk there is a cave that has a open door made out of a rock but you can’t see anything inside. On the left side there is a statue of a saint. The saint is wearing a white rope his left hand is raised and his right hand is holding a cross. A part of the picture you could see the floor and the rest is cover with bushes and trees. The pro filmic event of the photo is the light brightening the ceramic floor. The trees also gives it reality because of it’s color. The dominant impression I got from the picture is mysterious and intriguing the fact that I can’t see what is inside the cave. The reality effect of this photo is the trees and also the fact that the wind is moving the flag that is attach to the cross. Lastly the frame to the top right there is trees and I could see thesky. On the top right there is the edge of the cave and there are bushes covering the cave. On the bottom right and the bottom left is the ground. This is of some things I could visualize by looking at my photo.

View Of Freedom

View of Freedom, March 17, 2014, Joinel Sanchez

This Photo was taken on March 17, 2014 from the living room window of the seventh floor apartment that I live in. The frame cuts out many other buildings that are dwarfed by the massive Freedom Tower skyscraper. The picture was taken in the afternoon, which can be identified because of the sunlight that is shining strongly on the side of the New World Trade Center. The dominant impression that is created by this picture causes a mood that can be best described as uplifting. Just looking at a photo like this puts me in a pleasant state of mind. I believe that the Sun’s rays shining upon the relatively new skyscraper represents a fresh start, or a new beginning. It makes me want to forget about the past and think about a brighter future. The studium of this photo can simply be described as a breathtaking view of Lower Manhattan’s beautiful skyline. A group of smaller buildings are surrounding the famous area that holds the skyscraper known as the “One World Trade Center” building. The bright sunlight really adds to the Freedom Tower being the emphasis of the photo and allows the exceptional skyline view to become an image that is almost impossible to ignore.

Through Others Eyes

CAM00204

I took this picture Saturday night on March 15th of 2014. I was having dinner with my boyfriend, when suddenly I looked to the side, and the image through his prescribed glasses caught my attention. The optical illusion of the image reflecting through the lenses, having a second bicycle and breaking the symmetry of the door, is what I think makes it interesting. Without using any filters, I believe this picture questions the reality effect and make the observer look twice to understand the shot. We can appreciate a not so focus image around the lenses, but a pretty clear view through them. I wanted to make the frame focus as close as possible to what I wanted to show, which is why the left edge, and half of the left upper and lower edge are part of his face. On the other side, the right edge, and half right upper and lower edge is the outside view of the restaurant.

Misadventures of a college student

IMG_20140317_112518

I took this photo in my EMT1150 class during a long lecture on the 17th of March in the Voorhees building. This is a photo of a picture of me drawing myself combating the diabolical forces of homework while attending a lecture. The studium is a poorly drawn picture in the center focus of the picture with students listening intentively to the professor in the background, the bright blue shirt on the professor, and the series of complex formulas on the board. The profilmic event is a lecture taking place about parallel circuits and me drawing the actual pictures. The dominant impression for me seems to be an atmosphere of boredom. I was very somber when I draw the picture. The frame cuts off at the top and the bottom(Around the bottom of the paper). The picture frame cuts off the pen I used to draw the picture and the rest of the formulas on the board.
