“What If You Could Choose Between the Fastest Route and the Most Beautiful” is an article by Lex Berko. It discusses people’s preferences using research and experiments to figure out which route they’d rather take. They used two places in London as an example of juxtapositions to ask people which is the quietest or happiest path. 30 people more familiar with London were evaluated. The more delightful walk was 12 percent longer than the shortest route calculated on mapping services but there’s still a small amount of people who prefer the shortest route. However it could be the new “in” thing. Like it said in this article “In the future, GPS directions may not always be destination-driven.”
