“A Literary Visitor Strolls in From the Airport” is an article by Charles McGrath explaining the story of Will Self’s novel. This article describes the autobiography a man who overcame his challenges uniquely – by “walking it out.” Will Self  walked 26 miles to a hotel from JFK airport. He said “Alcohol and drugs tend to keep you from taking walks”. Self used to be a drinker and immense drug addict but he was able to stop. Now on his spare time he takes walks. Long ones. He walked as much as 100 miles in London. Nevertheless, Self sees things that other can’t take the time too see because they all are moving fast and with the crowd. It’s uncommon. But he’s lucky because he can take that time to absorb in everything that he sees. He says “…anyone can go and see the Ituri pygmy, but how many people have walked all the way from the airport to the city?”
