Grants & Opportunities for Hispanic & Latino/a/x Students

Student Grants & Scholarships (open to all City Tech students)

  • Spain: North American Language and Culture Assistant Program (NALCAP) – Teach English in Spain for one academic year during or after college. Program organized by the Education Office of the Embassy of Spain
  • Chile: English Opens Doors Program (EODP) – The EODP is an initiative supported by the Ministry of Education of Chile . US Volunteers teach 35 hours a week at public schools under the supervision of Chilean 5th-12th grade teachers. Benefits include a monthly allowance; insurance; accommodations and meals with a host family
  • Spain: Meddeas – Meddeas cooperates with more than 200 official private schools all over Spain to provide language teaching assistants. Opportunities are available to recent graduates and undergraduate students and Spanish language ability is not required
  •  Austria: US Teaching Assistantship Program in Austrian High Schools – Each year, the Austrian Federal Ministry of Education, Science, and Research (BMBWF) seeks recent college and university graduates interested in teaching English in Austria. This program places more than 140 Americans in teaching assistant jobs in Austria every year
  • Teaching Assistant Program in France (TAPIF) – The Teaching Assistant Program in France offers you the opportunity to work in France for 7 months, teaching English to French students of all ages
  • Japan: the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Program – The Japan Exchange and Teaching Program is sponsored by the Japanese government. JET places native English speakers in classrooms across Japan. The workers live in Japan for up to a year and serve as a language assistant to Japanese students. Benefits include a generous salary, insurance, and transportation to and from Japan
  • Korea: English Program in Korea – The English Program in Korea (EPIK) was established  to improve the English speaking abilities of students and teachers in Korea. The benefits include: monthly salary; settlement allowance; free housing; entrance and exit allowance; severance pay; and 50% coverage of medical insurance premiums. TEFL certification OR a teaching licensure in any field is required
  • Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals – The Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange for Young Professionals (CBYX) is a fellowship funded by the German Bundestag and U.S. Department of State, that annually provides 75 American young professionals, between the ages of 18–24, the opportunity to spend one year in Germany, studying, interning, and living with hosts on a cultural immersion program.
  • ThinkSwiss Fellowship Program – The aim of the program is to promote research opportunities in Switzerland for American students and to foster exchange between Swiss, and U.S., universities and research institutions
  • Global CUNY – CUNY offers students a wide range of short-term, semester and year-long programs that lead to significant cultural and academic experiences.
  • U.S. Fulbright – Opportunity for recent graduates to teach English, study, or conduct research abroad. This is a competitive program run by the U.S. Department of State and applicants must be U.S. citizens.
