In the year 2012, new studies demonstrated a possible link between periodontal disease and Alzheimers disease. I decided to research this because this disease has affected my family and it would be interesting to know . A table clinic presentation was completed that demonstrated our findings. A presentation was performed in school were students from other programs were invited.

A service learning project was recently conducted. Screenings were performed on students between ages of four and five. Handouts were filled out which advised parents the next course of action that should be taken depending on the extent of the caries lesions present. After this fluoride varnish was placed on the teeth of these children.

In the service learning project children with developmental disabilities were taught how to properly brush and floss by using  tell-show-do. A power point was formulated which explained step by step how to brush and floss. Typodonts were then distributed as a visual guide. The participants were then taken into the restroom where they were assisted how to properly brush and floss.
