Introductions: we do it all of the time; there are different strategies (question, anecdote, quote, title/author, other?); in newspaper articles, it is common to talk a lot about the first sentence of the article, which is referred to as the “lede”
Thesis Statements: A concise statement of the argument you present in your essay; at the end of your introduction; main idea; they are hard to write sometimes and therefore you always revise them last; start with a draft thesis statement and revise revise edit revise edit edit; the are conversation starters: and therefore are NOT statements of fact, but instead, are propositions; what are some interesting/exciting models of thesis statements? Let’s look at them!!!!!!!; Questions can be thesis statements, but thesis statements will not always be questions;
Introduce your topic and the argument you are making about it
Read your thesis statement
Make a note of what is good about it
Make a note of any questions that you have about it
Discuss possible revisions
I believe the three things that would make this college better are:
fixing the elevators
building a gym
cleaning the bathrooms
I am not criticizing or saying that the college right now is in bad shape, but I just feel that with some improvements the college experience at City Tech would become more enjoyable: add a gym, fix the elevators, improve the staff
