Week 4

I have learned some good stuffs today. I was assigned to create a vector file and it’s ready for print. First of all, I have to create a measurement file to list size for all the surface. After I finished, I try to get approved. However , I did not consider when the sign to be assembled together. Our senior designer told me to ask how they want to assemble it so I can do some math to fix it. After I got all the surface size right, I did not know I have to check if I inserted the right size in the software. I think when we did class works, we were not printing anything excess the print size, and we just get critique by the content information. However, when we design for real world business, we need to get everything accurate so we don’t do double or triple amount of works. Now I learned how to get precise size for cutting. The other thing I learned this week is to make shape subtraction in Illustrator. In this design, they just want to print out negative space. Because when the machine reading file, it will read through each layer so I have to subtract the shape to make all layers as one. If I put a white layer beneath the layer, the machine will print out the white space area as well. However, if I subtract the shape, the machine can recognize the shape of each individual negative areaand  cut that empty space out.

I also have chance to see how the sign smith crafted a sign. Here I post some process 20141009_162917 20141009_162946 20141009_162948 20141009_16310820141009_16395620141009_164047
