Urban Artifacts: Phase 1

Stable Image

I feel like you can interpret this photo how every you feel. The little tomato at the top means to me that something tragic had to a garden like a storm and that tomato was the only survivor. The grass looks like it’s about life to a new species of tomatoes that unfortunately got caught. The brighter tone and colors compliment this as it feels like a new saga is about to begin. They is a tone of open space in this photo to.

Stable Image

This picture I found very interesting because this look like something you see underwater. Deep in the ocean. The ruff sand texture at the bottom and the dead plants on the side gives me a aquatic feeling. The colors of the plants are very dark but are multi colored.

Ambiguous Image

You can tell by the way one tile is lighter than the other three means this street was worked on ages ago. The tile developed moss in the crack in the middle and the texture of it is very muddy looking. That also spots on from all the rain. A lot grey and square shapes compliment how they looks.

Ambiguous Image

Looks like it was hit by acid and all of its life was drained. You can the brown liquid just eating away at the material leaving crust all over it. While top part looks completely untouched. Meaning someone throw something on to the wall a long ago. This gives the picture lonely vibe combine with the lack on negative space compounds this. This looks like if no has been here for years.

Hours: Took about 2 hours to take pictures and write a story about the pictures.

Sound Visualization Mashup: Phase 4

This project was pretty fun, it was really nice to mix art and music together, into almost one medium. I think the songs that were chosen were nice, but i do kind of wish i chose my own music, maybe i would have been able to create better designs. I think my biggest struggle with this project was time, i had so many issues with photoshop, and how to set everything up, it was a little annoying at first but i’m glad i know how to animate on photoshop now. If i could go back and fix one thing it would maybe be the animation, i would have really like to have made the lighting sync up wit the staccato beats, but i didn’t have time, otherwise i’d say i’m content with the project. Maybe for the next project i’ll try to personalize it more.

Phase 1: Discover

Phase 2: Define

Phase 3: Develop

Phase 2: Define Completed collages

For the Narrow High Key collage, I used a different material (a print out from the library) to create my gradient. I realize later on that the different material really stands out on the Broad ranged collage thus I took advantage of the fact that because the laser print out looks so much more HD if I placed it on top of a much more faded portrait (Narrow High Key) of myself it would be a good focal point.

Value-Added Portraits: Phase 1

Broad

High-key

Low-key

In these 3 photos, the lowkey value is the darkest, it has a darker background and primarily focuses my hands.  It was taken in the classroom next to the window shade. The highkey has a lighter background and also focuses on my hand. The broad photo was taken in the class computer desks on a keyboard as the background. Each of these creates the gist of my hand being in different surrounding but in the same place at once.

Sound Visualization: Phase 4

My thoughts about this particular project is that I found it really interesting in the beginning with the drawing out what we heard in the music. It got really complicated once animating came into it, but now I learned something new with animating in Photoshop. I know some things I could’ve worked on is my time management with this project. I know I was really lost on what to do, so next time for a project I would really work on being way better on time management. Overall, I actually  learned a lot about animating, and photoshop. The ending result of my animation I was actually pretty satisfied with because I liked how differently I tried to animate it from everybody else’s animation.

Project 3 draft

The image I have chosen is a picture of a tree branch stuck in a fence. The image raises various questions. These are questions such as how did the fence get intertwined with the branch. There is also the thought if it was done intentionally. If it was intentionally done then the thought that follows is why. I chose this image because I felt that it was very out of the ordinary. It almost seemed as though a tree was cut and the remains of it are stuck in the fence. However, it may be likely that the branch was placed there into the fence. This is likely because that is an area where people do a lot of things for art purposes. For example in that same area there is a wall spray painted with an interesting looking design. This leads me to believe that the branch may have been placed there intentionally.
