My thoughts about this project was that I knew it was gonna be easy to determine which image is stable and ambiguous, even I had challenges where some I couldn’t identify. I would have done better is instead just drawing a cube as my stable image, I would have taken a different shape in the ambiguous image to make people’s eye follow and see the unity in it more. I would apply what I learned to my next project is to most importantly, don’t make things more challenging than it is.
Urban Artifacts: Phase 2
These are my sketches of the photography work I did for phase 1 where we had to take 6 pictures in total. On the top is my stable sketches while underneath it, is my ambiguous sketches. The total of times I spend on my sketches was a hour and a half.
Satori
noun
“sudden enlightenment and a state of consciousness attained by intuitive illumination representing the spiritual goal of Zen Buddhism” Merriam-Webster dictionary
The word was encountered in “A Literary Visitor Strolls in From the Airport” by Charles Mcgrath
The sentence it was used was “It’s a work of beauty and a joy to behold,” he told the homeowner. The morning was foggy and unseasonably warm, and a few blocks later, near the entrance to Aqueduct Race Track, he shed his jacket and announced: “We’ll, we’re only a fraction of the way there, but in terms of my longer walk, starting in London, I’m already halfway, and I can say that I am ludicrously (Foolish or unreasonable) happy. I am in a state of almost absurd satori.”
The author utilizes the word to express the perfect state of happiness. With some research, Zen is to be “fully aware, here and now” which also translates to meditation. Because he says he feels satori which is Zen he’s saying that the walk is a way for him to meditate and be with himself. He’s feeling peaceful and relaxed on his walk and is grounding himself. When he later encounters someone who “couldn’t conceptually grasp the idea of walking to New York.” I think he’s trying to say is as a New Yorker you’re always on the move to get to your destination the fastest which makes us normally think, for example, the only way to getting to Manhatten is by train when there is a bridge to get there by bike or walking. But the bigger idea is that we don’t enjoy the scenery we have around us as it’s always changing. We notice when things get replaced.
Ludicrously
adverb
“amusing or laughable through obvious absurdity, incongruity, exaggeration, or eccentricity” – Merriam Webster dictionary

The sentence that this was used in is“It’s a work of beauty and a joy to behold,” he told the homeowner. I am in a state of almost absurd satori. (a Spiritual goal of Zen Buddhism)”
The author utilizes this word to express his emotions while going through his walk in London. To this author taking walks is better than the drinking because “Alcohol and drugs tend to keep you from taking walks”. He walks out of his own free will and doesn’t force it upon himself to “score a walk”. Because he describes it as foggy warm mornings one could say he admires the scenery around him which makes him absurdly happy probably because on his walks he’s able to see scenery normal people would miss because they only walk from point A to point B instead of taking detours.
PROJECT #1: My College Experience
My Experience of he first few at city tech was quite a mess but very liberal. The very first day at city tech August 28, 2018 had started very messy because according to my schedule, it said that I have English class at the Midway building and as soon as I got there, I didn’t have a city tech ID to enter the building with ease so I had to carry my schedule and the city tech map around my hand including my personal ID. As I was in the Midway building, I had to ask the officer for directions to get to my class and she told me to take the stairs to the second floor. By the time I was in the midway building, I was already 15-30 minutes late to class and I rush to find my class. But somehow I confused myself for finding the stairs. It took my around 3-4 minutes to try find the stairs leading to the second floor because when I took the stairs I first found, there was more stairs that I had to climb and I thought I was taking the wrong stairs. Little did I know, I was taking the correct stairs leading to the second floor, I just needed to climb further and when I reached for the classroom, suddenly there’s a note telling me that the class was moved back to the Name building on the 6th floor. I was frustrated but what choice did I have so I’d headed back to the Name building and I had to take the stairs to get to the 6th floor because I knew I had no time waiting for the elevator. I was very tired of taking stair and as soon as I reached for the 6th floor. I was stuck at a situation of which side was the class. I first took the right hall was and I was trying to find my class and I was looking at every class number on top of the door. I thought I was taking the right directions because the numbers were following up to my classroom but I ended up into a dead end and I checked my schedule twice or more and realize that took the wrong hallway. So I took the left hallway, on my way the class numbers were listed on the left wall and I didn’t noticed it and finally I’d made it almost an hour late and professor Rosen apologies for the sudden change. That day was one of the worst and messiest day I had, that was just not my day.
Project 1 phase 4
this project was really great. i learn the difference between a stable figure relationship and an ambiguous figure relationship.
a stable figure relationship is when the object is clear different than the background, a ambiguous figure relationship is when the object and the background don’t have a big contrast
Unheralded
adjective
“coming or occurring without advance notice : UNEXPECTED”– Merriam-Webster dictionary
This word was encountered in the article “The Way We Live Now: 11-11-01; Lost and Found” by COLSON WHITEHEAD
The sentence it was used in is”If you had known, perhaps you would have stepped behind the counter and shaken everyone’s hand, pulled out the disposable camera and issued posing instructions. But you had no idea. There are unheralded tipping points, a certain number of times that we will unlock the front door of an apartment. At some point you were closer to the last time than you were to the first time, and you didn’t even know it. You didn’t know that each time you passed the threshold you were saying goodbye.”
The author was trying to describe how when we don’t pay attention to the environment around us. We take it for granted that the store, monument or item will always be there forever. Everyone has a personal New York city so the things that you pass by the most you never really expected to change but when it does it comes unheralded which means unexpectedly. The author also brings the idea that everyone’s New York is different, so even if the shops around us change we will always remember it as that the first store we saw it as but other tourists, and people moving in won’t see the location the way you do.
Sound Visualization Mashup: Phase 2
Juxtaposition : Project 3
To get to this sculpture, I left the namm building from the main doorway that students come in from on the ground floor. When I got out I made a right, and walked down straight passed the family court and passed the parking garage and stopped in front of the Marriott hotel and crossed the street to myrtle ave. After crossing the street u continue walking straight passed five guys. Now ur walking straight but on your left side ur going to turn and walk a little bit straight like maybe a few inches and your going to see a few red chairs on the left side with trees all around them and the on the right ur going to see the sculpture.
juxtaposition
To get to this building, i exited from the Namm Hall ( main building) and then turned left, walking away in the direction away from the A, C, R trains, while still remaining on Jay St. Once you walked down, you will most lightly wouldn’t be able to catch the light before it changes because its a highway that you have to cross which is called, “Tillary St.” Once you are across the street, you will see a store called, ” Concord Market” and also a food stand where you can get your hot dogs or drinks. On the other side of the street is a park where you see people playing basket ball and kids playground connected to it. The park is called, “McLaughlin Park.” After seeing that, the cathedral should be right there in front of you, you can’t miss it. Your journey there will be slightly challenging if you get out with other college students with already a crowd of people either walking to walk, strolling around where they take their time. Jay street is a busy street so speed walking is recommended. The reason I chose this building because how it looks out of place where the other buildings you see look more sleek, modern, urban, and new in today times. I really like the details on the cathedral and how its old fashion. It has a similar architecture to the ones in Europe. I like buildings who give that field that you aren’t in the city anymore.
