Nursing is a humanistic, altruistic profession that assists persons in the promotion, maintenance, restoration and/or rehabilitation of health and preparation for death with dignity. This nurse believes in the holistic care of the patient. The nurse follows the practice under Jean Watson’s Caring theory which is the comprehensive part of the client. The nurse uses evidence-based practice to effectively and safely care for the client. In order for the client to heal, their physical, mental, spiritual, emotional and sociocultural being of the client’s defined health in their highest functioning abilities is taken into account when caring for this client. The client has patient rights, which the nurse have to abide by including receiving all the information needed to know about their treatment, the right to refuse treatment, and privacy and confidentiality.
