Tech Lunch Crunch Proposal

Tech Lunch Crunch is a mobile app created to help City Tech students navigate the area around the school during their breaks. Every student knows how difficult it can be to find food during their break and in a timely manner before having to run back before their classes start. This game was created to help those like us who have been faced with the dilemma of searching for food and still manage to make it to class on time.

Once a student downloads the app client for Tech Lunch Crunch, they then will create a profile that can be used to complete against other students. Along with a profile the student will also choose an avatar of the “City Tech Yellow Jacket who will be customized by there favorite color. A student looking to find food on their break just has to answer a few questions to start their journey.

All a student needs to provide to Tech Lunch Crunch app is what time their next class starts, the type of food they are interested in and the price range that suits their needs.

Tech Lunch Crunch will then provide the student with food locations in the area that fulfill their request. At this point the student can pick for the various choices provided by Tech Lunch Crunch. They will also be able to view the locations menu, whether they provide a discount to City Tech students and whether they can order their food online and pick up at the location.

Once the student picks their location of choice Tech Lunch Crunch will provide the student with exactly how long it will take them to make it to their location of choice and back to class. Any student has the ability to compete with other students that enter their search at the same time. Tech Lunch Crunch will then track all students who are competing to see who can actually retrieve their food and make it back to the school on time. Every time a student wins a Tech Lunch Crunch battle they will accumulate points and establish a winner.

Our team at Tech Lunch Crunch was able to create this game for our fellow peer through extensive research. We have diligently researched the food locations around City Tech and the benefits they provide to students. We have evaluated menus through the neighborhood of City Tech to assess how the price point vary from location to location to give an accurate idea of the cost associated with the location. We have studied and tracked walking patterns to provide accurate time frames to our clients so that they can meet their goal of being back to campus before their class starts.

The student will start out with a base amount of points. The student will have to choose the shortest distance from the school to the store however, as a kick the points the student starts out with begin to decrease as they walk to the store but by choosing the shortest distance to the store, a minimum amount of points are lost. If the longest route is chosen and the students walks that route, the student will lose more points than they would have if they chose the shortest route.  The interface itself is based off of “Google Maps” which is very familiar to many smart phone users. This will make “Tech Lunch Crunch” incredibly easier to adjust to and simple to use.

Part of our research was to find locations that provided discounts to students and making this information widely known to all students they may have not already known these discounts exist. Ensuring that the usage of this app can be beneficial and rewarding to all users. Also other places that didn’t provide discounts to students are included but the incentive of gaining maximum points will not be included, as you will lose points paying full price for a meal.

As we conducted our research for the creation of the game we decided that we wanted to create a competitive nature to our app. In making the Tech Lunch Crunch app not only useful as well as fun for users to play as well. Friends can now meet up and keep track of each others locations and points as they walk around the area getting lunch and having fun at the same time.
