Logo Deets:

Your first assignment is to create a logo that represents the opposite of YOU using in illustrator using only black and white.

Your final project will be making three versions of the same logo.

  1. white background
  2. black background
  3. transparent background

5 in x 5 in / export as .png

  • Start by writing down 5 action words that describe yourself. For example: Strong, Intelligent, Independent, Stubborn, and Creative. Then write down the opposites of those words.
  • Choose one or two words and create several thumbnails of logos that “represent” that word. This does not need to be literal. Let’s say you choose the word organized. Maybe your logo will have a a grid with shapes in a particular order. If you choose “independent” maybe your logo will have several arrows going in a direction and one going the other way.
  • Now it’s time to start in Illustrator. Make a new art board and using shapes  (additive and subtractive) create three different logos that embody the meaning of the word/s you chose. Save often and if you’re feeling stumped make several versions and we’ll workshop them in class. Choose your favorite and be prepared to discuss why in class. 
  • Once you’ve settled on a logo that you like. Create three art boards and three variations of the SAME logo: white background, black background and transparent background.
