Learning Self-Analysis

The AAS Program at NYCCT had caught me all the clinical skills needed to care for patients in safe and effective ways.  The BSN Program also taught clinical skills such as detailed physical assessment, but focused in other areas of equal importance such as case management, care for patients in urban communities, communication, and becoming a leader in nursing.  Nursing incorporated in all of these areas involves advocacy, cultural competence, understanding the multiple factors that affect patients’ health (social determinants of health), and being able to navigate Medicaid, Medicare, and private insurance. The combination of knowledge gained from NYCCT’s AAS and BSN Program gives me the confidence to enter the workforce fully equipped and capable of providing care to the level of the prudent nurse.
