The process of self-reflection is a critical component in fostering growth throughout my nursing career. As I ponder on my strengths as an individual and as a nurse, I come to the realization that caring is at the core of my being. It was Jean Watson who said “caring is the essence of nursing.” I also consider myself to be self-driven and it is that drive that keeps me searching for greatness. I am reliable and flexible, which in the nursing profession, or any career for that matter, is always a plus. I am a team player and always lend my support when duty calls. I am humble and have found a little humility goes a long way. I am empathetic and have a passion for helping others, which is why I know nursing is my calling. Nursing is not easy, but being able to help someone who is suffering find meaning and purpose is fulfilling for me and at the end of the day, I look forward to continuing along this journey.
