Slow Recovery

This photo was taken by me on my way home from school. The building in this photo was burned down over two to three years ago in my neighborhood in Queens. It was once a day care on the first floor, along with apartments above. This abandoned building stands out the most on this block because it’s been boarded up for quite a while. Everything else on the block seems to be up and running except for this one building. In the building you can see what looks like a construction worker inside, if they are planning to redo the entire building, it will definitely bring a change to the neighborhood after a while.

The college life

This is a picture of my red bull that I drink every morning before class to get me started with my day. I started drinking redbulls because I tried it once before an exam and it helped me stay up throughout the whole exam. So in other words, this is my coffee without it I’m like a walking zombie.

Problems with the F-Train by Kelvinne Zavala

“Problems with the F-Train” this photo was taken at the 194th street Jamaica Ave train station entrance. I take the q2 bus and get off at this stop to get on the train. I took this photo because it shows what I see everyday on the way to school and on the way home. Sadly, the F-Train was delayed by 45 mins and didn’t allow me to make it to my classes today. This was the first time I have experienced train issues and it was awful. The dark green on the sign and the gray sky’s truly reflect my mood this morning. Today has to be one of the worst days in my college life so far.

Change

Photo taken by Keine Hospedales

This photo was taken right outside of my living room window. The bars were just installed last month for safety reasons, the tree was just planted under three years ago and the leaves just started to change color due to the fall season, and the cars were new to be parked across the street hence the title, “Change”. I took this photo because I was amazed to see how the tree grew to such a massive size, and the slight change in leaf color caught my eye, also I focused in onthe bars because of it’s unique geometric shape.

Fall

This photo was taken by me while on a walk. I was taking a walk to clear my head In Rosedale New York when I saw this small tree. It was taken from my point of view. I point my phone straight up to where you can see the separation of the two branches with the clear sky’s coming through the center. It was around 5 PM on Saturday, the sun light rest on top of the leaves giving it a brown orange-ish color. Also, I have a high depth of field therefore everything in the frame is in focus.

“Building a future” this picture was taken this morning on my way to take my little sister to school. The land in which they are constructing means something to me. For as long as I can remember, my mom has said that she wants a building in that location but it’s always been vacant. After I came back from vacation, I saw that they were cleaning the lot and a few days later they had posters saying that it was gonna be a residential building. It makes me happy to think that my moms dream might come true and that if it does I’lol get to keep the old apartment to myself.
