Ethics in Design

During my internship experience, I feel like I’m blessed to be part of the nonprofit organization because since day one the team make me feel so confident about how I present my work, they are very polite and flexible with me.

I really appreciate the time they give me to explain any project and edits they want me to fix. We are always communicating each other by microsoft teams chat, the supervisor is always taking care of the due dates and ready to answer any questions or doubts that we may have.

According to the ethical guidelines, I feel that they are very professional, so am I, because this is another field that I was not used to but when it comes to ask for question or talking by message with them I try to be as much as polite and ethical, since it is a organization that works truly and respectful with the audience as well as the workplace.

1a.) From my experiences in the nonprofit organization I’m currently working on editorial and marketing design. Sometimes I work on projects that need to be communicative and creative because it showcases events and holidays as well as their function as a nonprofit organization, which is really great for people so they can interact with them and grab the information they need to be part of or take advantage of the opportunities that the organization offers.

I really enjoy working with the team because we are free with our creativity and I am able to use any software that I feel comfortable with. For instance the logo and some icons that are their most relevant imagery was provided by them so, every time that I need to use them on a project I am able to grab and use them, for any other alternative imagery.

I was asked to check if it needs attribution, I was required to mention the copyright or the authors name. Besides what we talked about earlier in how to use images or any type or artwork that we would like to use I also make sure to follow the AIGA guides so I am more confident to be on the right side of the ethical standards. However I enjoy creating my own artwork because I feel it is more accurate to showcase my talent and creativity while I am gaining more experience.

1b.)  When I got in, on the Organization I was never ask to sign any type of confidentiality or non disclosure agreement to be part of the marketing design team, however according to the ethical guidelines and my knowledge as a professional designer I am aware that this is my duty of total confidentiality with any type of information that I receive from the organization. I am also aware of the use of any information that I share during my class, regarding my personal experience as an intern and my progress as a designer.
