Instruction Manual, Group Work & Rest of Semester

As it pertains to Project 3 and assembling the lab manual, I am trying new things with creating the manual as a whole. I hope that I am able to reach the word limit that I need to reach to satisfy the conditions that need to be met. It has been interesting trying to figure out how I wanted to set the manual up, but I think that I would be able to finish the project in the way that it needs to be. The group work is going to be interesting. Working with new people and seeing their habits and much they will be able to contribute to finish the group work. I have had experiences where group members have not pulled their weight, so it will be interesting to see. I want to take the rest of the semester and take everything step by step. I want to be able to take my time and do not rush the assignments.

ENG 2575 – Thoughts/Feelings about this Class So Far…

So far, I feel like I have learned so much about how to improve my writing and how I read and analyze my own writing. I feel that that this class has forced me to analyze my writing a little more and figure out if I am making sure that I hit all of the points necessary in the writing. I still have much trouble with writing Introduction paragraphs. I feel like I know what the Intro needs, but I need the help to know how to make sure it explains what I will write in a paper. In addition, I have also learned about to figure out the main points and what the writer is trying to say in the works the professor hands in class. Now, I feel like I can truly read a piece of work and analyze the main points the writer wants you to understand. I feel like I have improved slightly in this class and I hope to be a better writer by the end of this course. I just need to work on more writing and practicing as much as I can.

ENG 2575 – The Shallows – Travis Davis

When reading chapter 3-5 of “The Shallows: What The Internet Is Doing to Our Brains” by Nicholas Carr, I knew that it had something to do with the evolution of communication between human beings through the last thousands of years. I thought that the chapters that I read so far gave a lot of detailed history of how different types of media has changed the way that we as human beings have thought. From the way in which humans created maps and use that to foster different types of thought to how it led to things such as the printing press, the computer and the Internet. He made very specific points about how the human influence on technology has played a part in our evolution. He tried to make points for every side about how we have come so far in technology.
