From “What You Pawn I Will Redeem” By Sherman Alexie

I came across this word while reading “What You Pawn I Will Redeem” By Sherman Alexie. It appears around the end of the reading, as the author talks about all the possible outcomes that could come with talking to that girl. It caught my interest because itā€™s a word that iā€™ve heard before but isnā€™t used quite often. So iā€™m curious as to how it ties in with the sentence and the authorā€™s overall point.

ā€œAfter about two hours of negotiating, we earned five dollars – good enough for a bottle of fortified courage from the most beautiful 7 – Eleven in the world.ā€ (Alexie).

After reading the definition of the word I better understand the context of how the author was using it in that part of the text. As seen in the quote, the author is discribing how the girl would react with you if you do said set of steps and how u would behave depending on the situation.
